FANTASY PLAYER UPDATES & NEWS

Jrue Holiday posted game-highs of 31 points and 13 assists to go with seven rebounds, a steal, and a block to lead the Pelicans to a 2-point victory over the Trail Blazers.

Adrian Gonzalez went 1-for-4 with three RBI in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Rockies.

Gonzalez is on an absolute tear to start the season as he is now slashing .523/.580/1.045 with five home runs and 14 RBI through his first 44 at-bats. Clearly he isn't going to hit over .500 all season but both his home run and RBI totals are on pace for the Dodgers first baseman to go over 20 HR and 100 RBI for the third straight year.  Analysis: Matthew Beck

Yasiel Puig made his return to the lineup on Saturday, going 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI and a run scored against the Rockies.

Puig (hamstring) was able to return to the Dodgers lineup on Saturday after missing the team's last three games but managed to pick up right where he left off prior to the injury. Now that he appears to be back near 100 percent health it is safe to get him back in starting lineup sin all fantasy formats.  Analysis: Matthew Beck

Joel Peralta collected his third save of the season after tossing a scoreless ninth inning against the Rockies on Saturday.

Peralta has been excellent since being anointed the team's closer in the absence of Kenley Jansen as he has now converted all three of his save opportunities. However, Jansen appears to be on track for a return next month which will end Peralta's run in the ninth inning.  Analysis: Matthew Beck

Zack Greinke allowed three runs on five hits and one walk while striking out three batters over 6 2/3 innings on Saturday against the Rockies.

Greinke improved to 2-0 Saturday as he is now sitting on a 1.83 EA and 0.71 WHIP with a 14:2 K:BB rate through his first three starts. Although his strikeouts are down slightly in the early going, Greinke has shown great command which more than makes up for the lack of swing-and-misses. He will look to keep up the pace when he takes on the Giants on Thursday. Analysis: Matthew Beck

Jordan Lyles coughed up four runs on five hits and five walks while striking out five batters through six innings against the Dodgers on Saturday.

After allowing just three runs through his first two starts Lyles got sidetracked Saturday as he more than doubles his runs allowed through six innings of work. He is now sitting 1-1 with a 3.50 ERA and 1.33 WHIP and will need to work on his 10:9 K:BB rate before gaining any lasting fantasy value outside of NL-only leagues.  Analysis: Matthew Beck

DJ LeMahieu went 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and one run scored against the Dodgers on Saturday.

LeMahieu is now slashing .463/.476/.585 through his first 41 at-bats as he continues to shine in the bottom third of the Rockies lineup. Although it would be nice to see some of his singles turn into extra-base hits (2 XBH), as long as he continues to hit for average he is someone worth starting in most fantasy formats.  Analysis: Matthew Beck

Mike Zunino went 1-for-3 smacking his first home run of the season, a solo-shot, in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Rangers.

Zunino has had a rough start to the season as he is now slashing just .139/.205/.250 with one home run, one RBI and 17 strikeouts through 36 at-bats. Until he snaps out of his current funk there is no reason he should be in starting lineups outside of two-catcher formats.  Analysis: Matthew Beck

Fernando Rodney earned his third save of the season after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning against the Rangers on Saturday.

After allowing six runs over his previous two appearances, Rodney managed to right the ship on Saturday, tossing a scoreless frame. Now that he appears to have his feet back under him it is safe to get him back into starting lineups although his shaky start should be alarming while owning a 12.46 ERA, 2.54 WHIP and a 2:4 K:BB rate through his first five appearances.  Analysis: Matthew Beck
