Cardinals expect WR Larry Fitzgerald to play today, following his concussion last week.

Jason Heyward is not in the Cardinals' starting lineup on Saturday.

Heyward was showing modest signs of heating up the past couple of games with a home run and double. Saturday will see Randal Grichuk in right and hitting fifth. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Khris Davis has exited Saturday's game. He walked gingerly back to the dugout after striking out in the first inning.

Davis has been hitting well, so his absence from the Brewer lineup would be a severe setback for the team. It will be necessary to await further word on the severity of his injury, perhaps after tests are taken, if he does not return to the field. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Danny Duffy will throw another bullpen session on Sunday. He still feels a slight bit of soreness in his left shoulder.

He is eligible to come off the DL on June 1, but shoulder soreness will likely delay that. A mid-June return to action seems to be more probable at this point. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Jimmy Rollins was moved down to eighth in the Dodgers' lineup Saturday.

Justin Turner is being slotted into the number two position in the order. Though Rollins is no longer the speedy top-of-the-order hitter he was in Philadelphia, he is hitting well over the past week. Even given his six game hitting streak, he is just batting .210 on the season. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Teddy Bridgewater said he has been spending extra time with WR Mike Wallace and working on the routes they used during practice.

Always good to see a young QB make the effort to connect with his offensive weapons. Wallace should prove to be a good fit in an offense that stresses deeper penetration as opposed to the short passing attack of the West Coast offense employed in Miami last season. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Jeff Bianchi was outrighted to Triple-A Pawtucket Saturday and has elected to become a free agent.

Bianchi was limited to just a single pinch running appearance with Boston before being sent out. He will look to catch on with another club where he has a better chance to make it to the majors and contribute. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Lavonte David could receive a long-term extension between now and the start of training camp.

David is the best linebacker on the Tampa roster. He may not rack up a ton of tackles due to the defensive scheme the Bucs employ, but it is hard to argue with his tackle numbers. The Buccaneers would be wise to lock him up with a long-term deal. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Shin-Soo Choo is not in the Rangers starting lineup on Saturday.

Choo should be back in the lineup Sunday. This is his first time on the bench in May, and Delino DeShields will cover left with Josh Hamilton handling right against the Red Sox Saturday. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Dodgers optioned OF Chris Heisey to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Heisey was deemed expendable to make room for Yasmani Grandal to return to the roster. Heisey has been with the Dodgers three times this season, but has seen limited action with just nine at bats in five games. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Dodgers activated C Yasmani Grandal from the seven-day concussion disabled list.

Grandal will catch and hit sixth Saturday. The Dodgers are keeping three catchers on the roster presently, which hints that Grandal will likely see some days off as he comes back from his concussion. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Rangers designate INF Tommy Field for assignment.

Field was dfa'd to make room for the promotion of Alex "Chi Chi" Gonzalez. Gonzalez is making the start Saturday against the Boston Red Sox and Wade Miley. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Rangers purchase contract of RHP Chi Chi Gonzalez from Triple-A Round Rock.

Alex Gonzalez was scratched from his expected Thursday start, so this is somewhat expected. He will get the start Saturday against the Red Sox. He is being slated for more than just a spot start, but has not exactly blown the doors off at Triple-A this season, posting a 4.15 ERA and an underwhelming 26:19 K/BB ratio in eight starts. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Festus Ezeli (sick) did not practice on Saturday.

An illness held the backup center out of practice. He has proven a capable force off the bench with Marreese Speight suffering a strained calf, although there are indications that Speight will be back to action when the finals begin. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Yankees recalled OF Ramon Flores from Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre.

Slade Heathcott is going DL with a grade 2 quadriceps strain and opens the door for Flores to see his first major league action. He should see some action in left field, with Brett Gardner sliding over to center certain nights.  Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson
