Victor Cruz (concussions) will have to go through protocol before getting cleared for practice.
The Giants may just roll up their tents and pack it in with Cruz right now as their season is all but over. There is no need to risk further injury to their all-star wide receiver and they would be better off highlighting some of the lesser used guys to see who could step up once Hakeem Nicks leaves during the offseason. Cruz' year was hindered by the ineffectiveness of Eli Manning this year. Perhaps the two should spend the offseason together to help fix what went wrong this year. With a "normal" Eli, Cruz is an unstoppable force at the wide receiver position and should be treated as such next year.ANALYST: Howard Bender
Stephen Piscotty went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Tuesday’s 6-4 loss to the Cubs.
Things definitely looked promising for the Cardinals when Piscotty gave the team an early 2-0 lead with with one swing of the bat in the top of the first inning. However, the offense largely dried up for the Cardinals after that and their season is now done. Piscotty was simply outstanding in this NLDS, going 6-for-16 with three homers, a double, six RBI and five runs scored. The sweet-swinging rookie has quickly made a name for himself in St. Louis and around the league. Analysis: Nate Miller
Ravens cut CB Rashaan Melvin on Tuesday.
Melvin started some games late last year for Baltimore, including some playoff games. But after being injured in the preseason and getting benched at halftime of Week 3, he just lost favor with the coaching staff. This isn't your run-of-the-mill no name being cut, so the Ravens are shaking things up a bit. Analysis: Brett Talley
