Wes Welker (concussion) will not play in Thursday's game versus the Chargers in Denver.

Jayson Werth said his wrist is responding really well after swinging a fungo bat this week.

You have to feel good when the manager calls it "significant progress" when referring to Jayson Werth's recovery. The hope is that the veteran outfielder can return to the Nationals lineup from his fractured wrist in early August. We need to see more reports like this if we want that hope to become a reality.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Drew Smyly threw a bullpen session Tuesday with no reported problems.

This was the second bullpen session that Smyly has thrown with no reported pain. He is slowly recovering from a partial labrum tear suffered back in early May. You should still not expect to see him back in Rays' rotation until August.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Ender Inciarte started a rehab assignment Monday.

We have not see Ender Inciarte with the team since mid-June due to a right hamstring strain. He was hitting .287/.316/.371 with two home runs and nine stolen bases on the season. The expectation is that he'll be activated from the disabled list after the All-Star break.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Nate Jones is close to going on a Minor League injury rehab assignment, per comments made by manager Robin Ventura prior to Monday's White Sox contest with the Blue Jays.

The White Sox are hoping at this point to get him back in their bullpen by August but there are no guarantees. Jones is working his way back from Tommy John surgery but there have been reports that he's throwing in the 90s once again. The team could use him down the stretch in the pen.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Rockets and there first-round pick Sam Dekker reach a contract agreement according to his agent Mark Bartelstein.

The NCAA tournament was very kind to Sam Dekker. The performance he put on propelled him to the 18th pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. Dekker made nearly 64 percent of his two-point shots and a solid 34.8 percent from three-point land in his three year career at Wisconsin. He will serve as backup to Trevor Ariza in Houston. Analysis: Drew Phelps

Zach Lee (finger) tossed five innings of two-run ball in a rehab start Monday.

It has been a long drawn out rehab process with a few setbacks along the way. The most recent was in early June when he felt tingling in his fingers and was shut down. It's a good sign that he's back out on the mount but you should not expect him back with the Dodgers until August. Analysis: Drew Phelps

Justin Germano, who opted out of his Minor League contract with Mariners last week, has signed with KT Wiz in Korea.

If you can believe it, this will be the third time he's played for the KT Wiz. The deal is reported to be $180,000 plus $50,000 in incentives, which is much better than nothing after Seattle let him go last week from his minor league contract.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Adam Schefter said Monday on ESPN Radio: “Despite reports that they think a deal could be coming down this week. Today, a deal doesn’t sound like it’s close. It doesn’t sound like anything’s close.”

We saw reports on Monday from Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports that a long deal term could be signed by the middle of this week but Tuesday we hear conflicting reports from Adam Schefter of ESPN. The team still has until the July 15th deadline to come to an agreement.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Kevin Garnett and the Timberwolves agree on a 2 year deal.

It is only fitting that the Timberwolves would resign their legend Kevin Garnett on the same day that they sign the new face of their franchise, the number one pick in the draft Karl-Anthony Towns. "I'm incredibly excited and rejuvenated to be part of this talented, committed team," said the 39-year old Garnett. You should expect to see him about 20 minutes per game this season but not really a fantasy relevant player anymore.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Joe Blanton will make a spot start for the Royals on Saturday.

The Royals didn;t really want to give Blanton another start if they didn;t have to, but with Monday's rainout and Tuesday's doubleheader, they're going to have to make a concession here rather than mess with the rest of their rotation. Blanton is not a fantasy option, no matter what the match-up is. Analysis: Howard Bender

Randal Grichuk is not in the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cubs.

The Cardinals will try a more speedy approach in the first game as Peter Bourjos will be in center and Tommy Pham will handle the work in left field. Grichuk will most certainly be in the lineup for the second game, facing lefty Tim Cooney. Analysis: Howard Bender

Yadier Molina is not in the starting lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cubs.

No real surprise that the Cardinals are sitting Molina for one of the games Tuesday. He'll be in the lineup for the second game while Tony Cruz handles the work behind the plate for the first one. Analysis: Howard Bender

The Rays have designated RHP Preston Guilmet for assignment.

The Rays needed to make room on the 40-man roster for John Jaso, so Guilmet will lose his spot for now and rest easy in the minors. He wasn't doing anything for the fantasy community anyway, so there's no loss here. Analysis: Howard Bender

Addison Russell is not in the Cubs Game 1 lineup on Tuesday.

The Cubs aren't going to push too hard here with the doubleheader. Expect to see Russell in the lineup for the nightcap. Jonathan Herrera will get the nod at second for the first game. Analysis: Howard Bender

John Jaso has been activated off the disabled list.

It's been 10 weeks since Jaso went down with the wrist injury, but he's finally made his way back. The next few games should be a decent warm-up for him and he could be a decent pick-up for the second half. Look for him to work mostly as a DH, but manager Kevin Cash could move him around the field depending on need. Analysis: Howard Bender
