Tommy Joseph's concussion will continue to sideline him "indefinitely".

Once a sought after power hitting catcher prospect, injuries have limited Tommy Joseph. With the Phillies about to embark on a rebuild, with health Joseph could see some time in the majors but the concussion has to be a concern. His best year in the minors was in 2011 while in High-A when he hit 22 home runs in 127 games. Analysis: Greg Jewett

Trevor Bauer threw 7 2/3 innings of one run ball against the Reds in a win on Sunday, allowing five hits with four strikeouts and no walks.

Bauer turned in one of his more impressive starts this season, working into the eighth inning and striking out four on 107 pitches. At 4-1 with a 3.02 ERA and 8.74 K/9, the just 24-year-old Bauer is putting together his best season to date. He made just one mistake today, but has managed to keep the ball in the yard and has been particularly dominant against left-handed hitters, holding them to a .279 slugging percentage. His next start is Friday at Seattle.  Analysis: Kevin Luchansky

Marlon Byrd went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 5-2 loss to the Indians on Sunday.

The home run was already Byrd’s ninth this season and it brought his RBI total to 24 through 40 games. He’s striking out in over 27 percent of his at-bats, but that’s on par with his strikeout rate from the past two seasons. The .203 batting average leaves a lot to be desired, but the .434 slugging percentage is pretty impressive for the 37-year-old veteran. Interestingly, six of his nine blasts have come away from the home run friendly Great American Ballpark.  Analysis: Kevin Luchansky

Update: Carlos Beltran is out of the lineup on Sunday with flu-like symptoms, according to manager Joe Girardi.

This makes more sense since Carlos Beltran is in a thirteen game hitting streak and is 6-for-23 versus Yovani Gallardo for his career including a home run. With the Yankees searching for offense, Beltran's flu is ill timed.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

Raisel Iglesias threw three innings in the loss against the Indians on Sunday, allowing two earned runs on four hits with three walks and six strikeouts.

This one started out great for Iglesias, who struck out five through two scoreless innings, before getting a little ugly in the third. He was starting in the rotation in Johnny Cueto’s slot, as he was withheld with general stiffness. It’s unclear whether or not Iglesias is a starter or bullpen guy long term, but as of now he isn’t scheduled to make another start. He’s recorded strikeouts against 17 of the 84 batters he’s faced this season, but walks are a bit of an issue, too.  Analysis: Kevin Luchansky

Yonder Alonso (shoulder) will hit on the field on Monday and will then join High-A Lake Elsinore for a rehab assignment beginning Wednesday.

Yonder Alonso was having a great start to his 2015 with a home run, 10 RBI and two stolen bases in his first 26 games of the year. But injuries derailed him again. Alonso has only averaged 91 games played the past two years and if he is ever to reach his potential, he has to stay on the field. San Diego will welcome back his defense and on base abilities but think of him as a James Loney type in the National League but with more stolen base potential and a bit more pop. Analysis: Greg Jewett
