Jrue Holiday stuffed the stat sheet on Friday for the Pelicans. He scored 16 points, added eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals.

Robinson Cano has been dealing with acid reflux and related stomach ailments since last August.

Do we really think that acid reflux could be the cause of his struggles? Cano is batting just .248 in 79 games this season in Seattle. He also has a sore ankle after getting hit by a pitch in Sunday's game. Cano has to be one of the biggest fantasy disappointments of the 2015 season.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Red Sox have announced RHP Zeke Spruill, who was designated for assignment on Friday, cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Zeke Spruill was designated for assignment to make room for Noe Ramirez on the active 40-man roster. He will now head back to Triple-A Pawtucket where he posted a 5.40 ERA over 53 1/3 innings.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

The Giants have withdrawn their $60 million contract extension offer to DE Jason Pierre-Paul, who suffered a hand injury while setting off fireworks over the holiday weekend.

There can't be one person out there surprised at this move by the New York Giants. The official word from the Giant, "do not believe a long-term offer is in the best interest of those involved at this point." The good news is that Pierre-Paul looks to be alright but no one knows the details of the incident or the full extent of his injuries. We do know he has nerve damage and extensive burns on both hands. Analysis: Drew Phelps

Red Sox optioned knuckleballer Steven Wright back to Triple A Pawtucket after Sunday’s game.

The knuckleball specialist Steven Wright has had two trips to Boston this season amassing a 4.15 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 24/13 K/BB ratio covering 43 1/3 relief innings. We would not doubt if the Red Sox recall him again this season when they need an extra long arm in the pen. Analysis: Drew Phelps

Maccabi Tel Aviv announced the signing of Jordan Farmar.

Jordan Farmar was just never able to re-establish a role for himself in the NBA game after returning from Israel before. He will be more familiar with the Israeli game this time and could have another crack at the NBA down the road.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Drew Gooden appears likely to return to Washington, a person with knowledge of the situation told CSNwashington.com.

Gooden seems to be the only Wizards' free agent who has plans to return to the team. Washington is in desperate need of a "stretch-four" and over the past couple seasons, he has developed into a solid player at that spot. Paul Pierce is gone and Nene always injured, Gooden could be utilized more in that role this season. Analysis: Drew Phelps

Veteran receiver Harry Douglas recently raved about the "unbelievable accuracy" Marcus Mariota showcased in OTAs and minicamp.

You really have to take these stories coming out of OTAs and mini-camps with a grain of salt. Yeah, it is really nice to hear that Harry Douglas thinks Mariota has shown great accuracy but that's playing in seven on seven drills with no pads or a pass rush. Lets see how accurate he is when a 280 pound defensive end is barreling down on him.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Jordan Crawford, who spent last season in China, is on the Mavericks summer league roster.

Crawford played with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers scoring 29.4 points, 3.4 assists, and 3.8 three pointers per game. We've always known him as a high volume shooter but he took it to another level in China with 89.7 percent of Crawford's shots were three pointers. We will see if he can crack the Mavericks roster. Analysis: Drew Phelps

The Jazz are having ongoing conversations with restricted free agent Joe Ingles' camp.

The talks continue between the Jazz and Ingles' camp but not much progress has been made. The word is that Ingles would like to stay in Utah but the two sides just can't agree on a fair wage. It looks like in all likely-hood Ingles will just take the qualifying offer that he has already received.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Andre Miller, who turns 40 next year, is planning on playing next season and is currently visiting with teams.

The veteran point guard averaged 4.4 points and 3.5 assists between playing for the Wizards and the Kings last season. The old man can still provide solid minutes coming off the bench for an NBA team. Analysis: Drew Phelps

Aaron Harang (plantar fasciitis) could go on rehab assignment just after the All-Star break and might pitch again in the majors before the July 31 trade deadline.

The official word from the team is that Harang is dealing with plantar fasciitis but more than likely it's that he has been terrible and they needed to get him off the mound for awhile. Harang has lost eight straight starts and his ERA has exploded 6.94. The Phillies face an even bigger problem now, they replaced him in the rotation with Chad Billingsley.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Kris Medlen gave up two runs on five hits over six strong innings Sunday for Triple-A Omaha.

Kris Medlen continues on his road back Tommy John surgery and right now, he is on track to return to the team by mid-July. The question will be how will he be used when he does return to the active roster.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Chase Utley's right ankle has improved to the point where he might start hitting within a week.

The Phillies placed Utley on the 15-day DL back on June 24th with right ankle inflammation. It will be nice to see him back out hitting this week but Philadelphia frankly has no missed him with the play of Cesar Hernandez. He is riding a 10-game hitting streak after Sunday's game and six of those games he had multiple hits. He is also 11 for 14 in steal attempts this season. You can't expect him to keep up a slash line like .299/.385/.385 but it looks like the Phillies have a bright future at second base after Utley is gone.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Jason Pierre-Paul remains at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami as of this morning with his family and there is no further update on his status.

The details of the injuries Pierre-Paul sustained during the July 4th fireworks incident are still a bit vague. He apparently did not lose any of his fingers or thumbs, but reports say that he suffered severe burns and possible incurred some nerve damage as well. Analysis: Howard Bender

Cardinals placed LHP Jaime Garcia on the 15-day disabled list with a groin strain.

Garcia threw a side session Saturday and while he reported no problems with his groin, he showed up Sunday morning complaining of discomfort. A stint on the DL is par for the course with Garcia, so that shouldn't be too surprising. How long he is out though, is not yet known. Tim Cooney will take his start Tuesday. Analysis: Howard Bender
