George Hill tied his career-high with 11 assists in the 106-102 loss to Portland.
After a slow start to the season, Hill has turned it up a notch, some, over his last five games as he is averaging 12.6 points, 4.6 boards, 6.2 assists, and 2.2 steals in that span. Hill still continues to struggle with his shot as he is shooting just 36.5% over his last five games and 40% on the season, but if he can keep dishing out dimes at the higher rate and getting steals it will make it easier to fade the poor shooting percentage going forward. Cameron Maybin went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday’s 7-1 loss to the Mets.
Maybin is seeing plenty of time in center field for the Braves right now, as he is a strong defensive player with exceptional range. At the plate, he has been anything but consistent, going just 4-for-28 over the last eight games. However, Maybin has displayed an unexpected power stroke, as three of those hits have left the yard. With enough at-bats, the fleet-footed 28 year old could have a shot at 15/15 production with regards to homers and steals. Analysis: Nate Miller
