The Bucs have announced that Bobby Rainey will backup Brian Leonard, who will start in place of the injured Mike James (ankle) who has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
Brian Leonard is the Bucs running back to grab off waivers this week. And to put Rainey's performance last week into perspective, 31 of his 45 rushing yards came on one carry and he averaged just two yards per carry on his other attempts. ANALYST: Michael Pichan
Joakim Soria will throw a bullpen session Thursday.
Soria was acquired last season by the Tigers as an insurance policy for the struggling Joe Nathan but he found himself getting injured just six games after being acquired which forced him to miss more than a month. In 13 games with the Tigers last season Soria went 1-1 with a 4.91 ERA after posting a 2.70 ERA with the Rangers prior to the trade. The Tigers expect Nathan to be their closer heading into the season which will mean Soria will once again be in a set up role. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba
