The Phillies are finalizing a two-year agreement with Marlon Byrd.

Devin Mesoraco (hip impingement) will make a decision on if he will undergo season ending surgery fairly soon.

Jeez. How long must this charade go on? This has literally been the most annoying situation in baseball as the Reds have mishandled Mesoraco's injury and rehab from start to finish. The fact that he hasn't decided on whether or not surgery is necessary is almost as laughable as the team refusing to put him on the DL this whole time. Drop him. Drop him now. Even if he doesn't have surgery, how much work is he really going to see where he's actually productive? Analysis: Howard Bender

Kevin Kiermaier has been removed from Wednesday's game with a possible injury.

No word yet on the nature or extent of the possible injury,so we'll have to wait until the team makes an announcement. He was 0-for-2 before being removed and replaced by Tim Beckham. Analysis: Howard Bender

Cardinals recalled C Ed Easley from Triple-A Memphis.

Easley has been batting .295 with three home runs and 18 RBI over 33 games at Triple-A so far and could get some work at first base against right-handed pitching. He might be worth a short-term look in NL-only leagues, depending on how long Matt Adams is going to be out. Analysis: Howard Bender

Cardinals placed Matt Adams (strained right quadriceps) on the 15-day disabled list.

Adams was removed from Tuesday's game with the quad injury and will now hit the DL for at least the 15 days, possibly more depending on how he heals. Mark Reynolds is expected to fill in primarily, though there are likely others who may take some hacks against right-handed pitchers. Analysis: Howard Bender

Orioles reinstate INF Ryan Flaherty from the 15-day disabled list.

Flaherty will rejoin the Orioles, though likely as a utility man rather than the starting second baseman. Everth Cabrera seems to have grabbed the job and with J.J. Hardy back at short, there's limited space for Flaherty. He'll serve as the primary utility guy until the next injury occurs. Analysis: Howard Bender

Giants pitcher Erik Cordier has cleared waivers after being designated for assignment.

No one had any interest in Cordier so he will end up stashed away at Triple-A Sacramento for now. There's no fantasy value here, so if for some inane reason he's on your roster, drop him. Analysis: Howard Bender

The Orioles have designated outfielder Alejandro De Aza for assignment on Wednesday.

De Aza had been shifted to more of a reserve role over the last month and has seemingly become expendable. The Orioles are probably hoping that he clears waivers so they can stash him in the minors, but it might be tough to sneak him through. Analysis: Howard Bender

Brett Oberholtzer will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Fresno Wednesday.

Oberholtzer has been recovering from a blister on his finger and is expected to throw 65-70- pitches in this outing to prove he is ready to return. The real question, though, is what his role will be upon his return. With rookie Lance McCullers pitching well, Oberholtzer might end up in long-relief rather than in the rotation. It might not be a permanent situation, but that's definitely the way it could start. Analysis: Howard Bender

Justin Verlander will make his first rehab start on Sunday with Triple-A Toledo.

Verlander got the green light from the Tigers after Tuesday's simulated game. The Tigers were manage his pitches to only 80-85 in this rehab start and we will have to see how he feels after to know if he'll need an additional according to manager Brad Ausmus. The former Cy Young winner could be activated as soon as June 5 if he pitches and feels well on Sunday.  Analysis: Drew Phelps
