Alex Rodriguez failed a test for a banned stimulant in 2006, according to a published report Sunday. The New York Times reported Rodriguez, who has admitted previously to using illegal performance-enhancing drugs from 2001 through 2003 and denied using them since, tested positive for a banned stimulant in 2006, his third season with the Yankees. Rodriguez didn’t face discipline because a player must test positive for stimulants twice before his name becomes public.
