The idea that the Detroit Tigers might trade right-hander Max Scherzer this offseason has been bandied about for some time. But Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com referred to the idea as a "real possibility" in a story published Thursday afternoon.
Scherzer is arbitration eligible in 2014 and a free agent at the end of next season. Scherzer had the best year of his career, is only 29-years old, and a very well liked person in the clubhouse. (He actually runs any little contests or Fantasy leagues the players are apart of). In the end it is a business, and anything can happen, and with how high they Tigers pay-roll has gotten it would not be an absolute surprise if they traded Scherzer, but my speculation would be that would only occur if the team falls out of the pennant race next season.
