Justin Verlander did his part Saturday night as he shutout the A's over seven innings allowing just four hits, one walk, and struck out 11 in the no-decision, but it was not enough as the Tigers eventually lost 1-0 as the A's evened the series at a game apiece.

Verlander did his part to put the Tigers in a position to win, but the Tigers' bats were silenced by just as an impressive start by A's rookie Sonny Gray. JV retired the first 11 batters he faced and had seven strikeouts in the first four innings of Saturday's game.ANALYST: Michael Pichan

Dwyane Wade (knee) is listed as questionable for Friday's game.

Wade didn't play on Wednesday due to a sore knee, so of course he is questionable for Friday. If he isn't in the starting lineup, Mario Chalmers will once again get the start and see a bump in value. Wade has been relatively healthy this season and has produced in a big way in the process. He's averaging 21.6 points and 5.2 assists per game. Analysis: David Kerr

Erik Johnson's injury is apparently a moderate ab strain, not an oblique strain.

A moderate ab strain is better than an oblique strain, so call this a win for Johnson. Johnson will start the season at Triple-A Charlotte, but will be an early call-up if the White Sox need a spot start. Analysis: David Kerr

Ross Detwiler has made the Rangers starting rotation.

There are far worse pitchers with starting jobs in baseball, so Detwiler is deserving of this chance. He's bounced back and forth between the starting rotation and the bullpen while pitching for the Nationals, but should settle in as a member of the Rangers' rotation. He has solid value in AL-Only leagues. Analysis: David Kerr

Yovani Gallardo will start for the Rangers on Opening Day.

This was expected after Yu Darvish was lost for the season after suffering a UCL tear. Gallardo is a serviceable arm, but his strikeout rate keeps falling and he's pitching in an even tough ballpark and league this year. He's a late-round option in mixed leagues. Analysis: David Kerr

Sean Doolittle (shoulder strain) said he will be playing catch Friday for first time since his injury.

The is certainly good news, but as fantasy owners already know, Doolittle won't be ready for the start of the regular season. If he is able to continue he progression and doesn't have any setbacks, Doolittle could join the A's in early-to-mid May. Tyler Clippard will hold down the closers role in his absence. Analysis: David Kerr

Josh Reddick (strained right oblique) will get two rounds of live batting practice on Thursday.

Reddick always seems to have an ailment, so it is hard to know what to expect if he were to complete a full season in good health. He definitely is drafted for his power, but an oblique injury could limited that aspect of his game early on. The veteran outfielder has fine value in AL-Only leagues, but he's nothing more than a late round flier in mixed leagues. Analysis: David Kerr

Spurs have assigned F Kyle Anderson to the D-League.

Anderson was averaging 11.5 minutes over 30 games for the Spurs, but only plays during garbage time. He'll head back to the D-League where he'll see plenty of action and gets the seasoning that he needs to contribute regularly in the NBA. Analysis: David Kerr

Kris Humphries (groin) did not practice Thursday but did some individual work.

Humphries is still being hampered by a groin injury and hasn't played since February 25. He is getting close to returning, but there is no set timetable. Consider him day-to-day. Analysis: David Kerr

Chad Billingsley pitched two scoreless innings Thursday in a Minor League Spring Training game against the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate at Carpenter Complex. "Today was a really good test or step," Billingsley said.

Billingsley is working his way back from Tommy John surgery and this is definitely encouraging news. It's going to be a while before Billingsley is on the mound for the the Phillies, but at least fantasy owners yet to draft in deep NL-Only leagues can target a half-decent arm late in their drafts. Analysis: David Kerr

Bengals signed free agent DT Pat Sims.

Sims is coming home after spending the last two seasons in Oakland. He is unlikely to have a starting role, but will immediately help the Bengals with their run defense when he's on the field. Analysis: David Kerr

Manager Ned Yost said Franklin Morales is the favorite to win one of the Royals' final two bullpen spots.

Morales has been a colossal disappointment throughout his major league career and hasn't looked all that great in spring training this year. It's not out of the realm of possibility that Morales will secure a spot in the Royals' bullpen, but Kansas City certainly has better internal options. Analysis: David Kerr

Madison Bumgarner will throw in a minor-league game on Friday instead of facing the Dodgers.

This isn't a move that should alarm you. The Giants are just choosing to let Bumgarner throw in a minor-league game instead of an actual spring training, though the reason hasn't been made known. Maybe Bumgarner needs to get to a birthday party or something. Nevertheless, he will be on the mound for the Giants on Opening Day at Arizona. Analysis: David Kerr

Donatas Motiejunas (back) is questionable for Friday's game.

Motiejunas is dealing with minor lower back pain, so it seems likely that he will play on Friday. He scored 21 points in a win over New Orleans on Wednesday, so it doesn't seem as though this back issue is hindering him too much. We should know more about his status after Friday's shootaround. Analysis: David Kerr
