It might not put an end to speculation about when or if Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez will undergo surgery on his injured throwing shoulder, but Jets coach Rex Ryan Wednesday said in a radio interview that no surgery currently is scheduled.

Koji Uehara (hamstring) will throw a bullpen session Monday.

It has already been established that Uehara will not open the season on time as this hamstring injury was more severe than originally believed. He will continue to throw bullpen sessions until the discomfort subsides. Expect him to stay in extended spring training while Edward Mujica assumes the closer's role. Analysis: Howard Bender

Matt Barnes (food poisoning) was scratched from his scheduled appearance Tuesday.

Barnes is going to need a couple of days to himself here as he recovers from his nightmarish bout with food poisoning. He'll probably get plenty of rest and some IV fluids to help take the edge off. He should be fine overall though and will likely get a new start scheduled before the end of the week. Analysis: Howard Bender

Nationals announce they've traded left-hander Jerry Blevins to the Mets for outfielder Matt den Dekker.

Quite the interesting acquisition for the Nationals. With Denard Span out for an extended period of time and Jayson Werth unlikely to start the season on-time, the Nats are pretty thin in the outfield. Den Dekker has some nice potential, but is probably only ready for a part-time role at this point. Analysis: Howard Bender

Matt Schaub will visit with the Ravens this week.

Schaub is desperately looking for work here after a failed attempt with the Raiders last season. At this point, though, he doesn't stand much of a chance at a starting job anywhere, but could be a fairly serviceable back-up for the Ravens and Joe Flacco. Analysis: Howard Bender

Josmil Pinto (concussion) has been cleared and returned to action on Monday.

Pinto caught three innings and went 0-for-2 with two walks in a Double-A game Monday and reported no issues. He is likely to start another minor league game Tuesday or Wednesday before returning to big league camp. Analysis: Howard Bender

Drew Storen was removed from Monday's game with an injury.

Uh oh. This is not a good thing. No word yet on the nature or severity of the injury but the Nationals could be in a heap of trouble if he's out for a long period of time. With Casey Janssen also dealing with a shoulder issue, the team may have to turn to Aaron Barrett or Blake Treinen. Analysis: Howard Bender

Cardinals have purchased the contract of RHP Carlos Villanueva.

Villanueva has found himself a nice home in the bullpen and will handle a middle relief role for the Cardinals now. He could find his way into a spot start at some random point, but nothing you want a piece of in fantasy leagues. Analysis: Howard Bender

Blaine Boyer has made the Twins Opening Day roster.

Boyer will handle a middle relief role, but it's unlikely that he finds himself in many high-leverage situations. He can probably be ignored in most fantasy formats. Analysis: Howard Bender

Coach Monty Williams is hopeful Jrue Holiday (leg) can return soon. He's listed as day-to-day.

Holiday still hasn;t been cleared for contact yet, so perhaps Williams is just voicing his wishful thinking. Even if Holiday does return at some point before the end of the season, he's not going to be worth owning, let alone starting. Analysis: Howard Bender

Nikola Pekovic (ankle) will not play on Monday.

This will make 11-straight games that Pekovic will have missed. With Kevin Garnett also potentially out, Justin Hamilton will be leaned on heavily in this one. Analysis: Howard Bender

Gorgui Dieng (concussion) will not play Monday.

Believe it or not, this is the first game of Dieng's professional career that he's missed because of an injury. He'll take a seat until his concussion symptoms disappear while Adreian Payne fills in. Analysis: Howard Bender

Diamondbacks reassign Nick Buss, Walter Ibarra and Dan Runzler to Minor League camp.

Runzler had a chance to earn a relief spot in the pen, but was unable to crack the roster. He could be back up later in the season and may even be someone to look at if your league scored holds. Analysis: Howard Bender

Diamondbacks option Matt Reynolds, A.J. Schugel and Allen Webster to Triple-A Reno.

No surprises here as Webster was finally told that he would not be the team's fifth starter. We should see him and Reynolds in a relief role at some point this season, but there's not much for fantasy owners here. Analysis: Howard Bender

Jon Lester will start in a Minor League game on Tuesday at the Cubs complex, his final tune up before Opening Night.

Just a easy day for Lester who the Cubs have invested quite a bit of money in and don't want to risk his health in a major league outing. He will be their Opening Day starter and a major part of their potential success.  Analysis: Howard Bender

Chris Denorfia, sidelined with a sore left hamstring, took batting practice on Monday and was expected to play in a Minor League game by mid week.

Denorfia is still not sure if he'll be ready for Opening Day, but the Cubs seem to be of the mindset that when he is ready, he will be the primary fourth outfielder and likely platoon a little with Chris Coghlan. His value in fantasy will be extremely limited. Analysis: Howard Bender
