Giants running back Brandon Jacobs said that his year with the 49ers was a “curse,” and that they effectively admitted they didn’t want to have to face him again.
The 49ers suspended him after his social media attack, which complained about playing time, the kind of thing you do when you’re trying to get cut.
“I didn’t think I was done because they didn’t want to release me,” Jacobs said, via Dave Hutchinson of the Newark Star-Ledger. “I was told point-blank, ‘Do I look like a fool? I release you and you’ll be with somebody else and come back and play against us? I felt good about it.
Of course that is what Jacobs is going to say, but it does kind of make sense. Jacobs should have a role on this team as the change-of-pace and goalline back, but I think David Wilson is safe as the starter, even with his fumbling and pass protection issues. Jacobs isn't a must-add, but he should be a solid bye-week option.
