Mike Minor will get extra rest and will make his next start at home in the series opener against the Indians Tuesday.
Minor has been outstanding this season, having taken another step forward after a solid season last year. Minor is 12-5 with 3.06 ERA/3.14 FIP, has lowered his HR/FB% by about four percent from last year down to 7.9% and increased his K:BB rate from 2.59 last year to an impressive 4.03 this season.ANALYST: Michael Pichan
Paul Maholm will step in for a start to allow Minor to rest for a few extra days. Minor has seen his ERA rise from 2.76 to 3.06 as he's allowed eight runs over his last two starts - covering 8.2 innings, so it's a nice time to get him a breather even though he's still about 20 innings short of the 179.1 he tossed last season. Jake Marisnick had two hits from the bottom of the order which included a double and a run scored in Houston’s 5 -2 win over Kansas City on Thursday night. His double in the second inning with two outs kept the inning alive and Marisnick scored on a single by Jose Altuve before Yordano Ventura left the game after a rain delay in the second inning. Although Marisnick struggled in the second half, he did finish September/October with a .275 average with three home runs and seven stolen bases. Analysis: Greg Jewett
