Boston third baseman Will Middlebrooks has been batting ninth in manager John Farrell's batting order since his return from Triple-A Pawtucket on Aug. 10. However, because of a lack of power from the right side, Middlebrooks could move up in the near future. "That possibility certainly exists," Farrell said. "He's going to tell us when he's ready.

Middlebrooks has been on a bit of a tear since returning to the Red Sox lineup, knocking eight hits in 20 at-bats for a .400/.478/.500 sash line. He's yet to homer, one thing the Sox are counting on, but he has struck out just five times with a pair of walks in six games. Small sample yes, but that is a notable improvement from the free-swinging infielder.
