Fantasy Player Updates & News  Season Long, 3 Stage Fantasy Football Competition

Mike Minor pitched seven shutout innings Wednesday allowing just two hits, no walks, and struck out six over seven innings as the Braves blanked the Rockies 9-0.

Panthers will release T David Foucault.

The Quebec native started a few games for the Panthers last season, but this year it came down to a numbers game. With the Panthers desperately needing WR help, they had to make the tough decision to cut him.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

The Giants have released Henry Hynoski.

This is sad news for Giants fans, as Hynoski was a longtime Giant player, who was the lead blocker for some impressive fantasy running back seasons. Hopefully he finds himself another home before the season gets underway.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Giants have released kicker Chris Boswell.

Very few teams carry multiple kickers, so Boswell had to have known that he had no chance to make the team. The Giants will go with Josh Brown as their kicker for the rest of the way.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Jets have cut TE Arthur Lynch.

Lynch was a former captain at Georgia but now has failed to make the New York Jets. This shouldn't be a surprise however, as the Jets are pretty stacked with tight end talent. He will find a home somewhere else before the season really gets underway.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Adam Jones became the first Oriole to ever record 5 consecutive 25-homer seasons.

Thats very interesting, considering the greats that have played for the Orioles over the years. Consider Jones one of them now I guess, as he has proven to be one of the more consistent bats in the bigs over his career.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

The Orioles selected the contract of Nolan Reimold from Triple-A Norfolk.

Reimold has been up and down throughout the course of this season, fitting as the number one fringe player in the O's system. He has plenty of major league experience, so expect him to transition seamlessly once getting some play in September.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Matt Barnes (elbow) threw from 120 feet Friday with no reported problems.

Not the famed NBA's Matt Barnes who famously misunderstood his relationship with Rihanna, but the Red Sox Matt Barnes seems to be getting back on track with his elbow issue. Even if he does come back healthy, he should not be considered a legitimate fantasy option.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

The Steelers released cornerback B.W. Webb.

The former Dallas Cowboys prospect has been released again, failing to make the Steelers out of camp. He's a speedy prospect with return threat to his game, but if he can't develop in other areas, consider him always a fringe 53-man roster player.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Panthers will release TE Scott Simonson but hope to sign him to the practice squad.

This basically says it all, as Simonson had no chance to compete with Greg Olsen for TE targets. Expect both he and Marcus Lucas to take their time on the practice squad developing.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Howie Kendrick hopes to return before the regular season ends.

The Dodgers would love to have both Puig and Kendrick back in the lineup before their playoff run, but if they can't, they will just have to live with Chase Utley at second and Scott Schebler in right for the rest of the way.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Panthers cut TE Marcus Lucas.

This is Lucas' first year as a tight end, so making the team out of camp was unlikely. Expect him to spend some time on the practice squad to develop his skills.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

The Panthers have cut safety Marcus Ball, per league source.

Ball wasn't likely to make any fantasy impact anyway, so pay no mind to this transaction. Best of luck to Ball going forward.  Analysis: Dom Murtha
