David Ortiz is not in the Red Sox starting lineup on Sunday.

Despite posting a .358 BA against Blue Jays starter Mark Buehrle, the Red Sox are going to give Ortiz his first day off his May 12. If a specific matchup presents itself later in the game, there is a chance he will be used in a pinch-hit situation, but the Red Sox will likely try to keep that from happening. Mike Napoli will take over the duties at designated hitter today, with Daniel Nava sliding into first base form the outfield, to give Jonny Gomes a rare start.

Ortiz, who's been a beast thus far this year, appears to be getting a scheduled rest day here. That being said, you'll want to check Ortiz's status in the coming days to make sure that he is indeed back in the lineup. You don't want to waste an active lineup spot on an inactive player.
