The Bobcats are hiring former Cavaliers guard Mark Price as an assistant coach.

Glen Perkins (back) will be a game time decision for Thursday's game.

Perkins has been day-to-day after suffering back spasms last week. If he is unable to close on Thursday, Kevin Jepsen will once again get the opportunity.  Analysis: David Kerr

Nolan Reimold cleared waivers and accepted his assignment to Triple-A Norfolk.

Reimold has appeared in 39 games for the Orioles this season, batting .227 with two home runs and eight RBIs. His stock has fallen mightily after a breakout rookie year in 2009. It's possible he'll be back with Baltimore when rosters expand in September. Analysis: David Kerr

Denard Span did not play Thursday because of back tightness.

Span just returned from the DL due to back spasms and other issues and he's already missing time. He wanted to get back with the team instead of spending time in the minors getting back into game shape. It appears that could have been a bad decision. He'll try to get back in the lineup on Friday. Analysis: David Kerr

Mike Evans (hamstring) said that he would be ready to go if games counted.

This is the case for many players at this stage. Evans' hamstring injury isn't thought to be major, but there is absolutely no reason for him to play in a meaningless game. He will sit out the final two preseason games, but should be ready to rock and roll Week 1 against the Titans. Analysis: David Kerr

Adam Jones left Thursday's game with a possible injury after running into the wall chasing a fly ball.

Jones hit the wall hard, but initially stayed in the game. The Orioles decided to pull him though and he was lifted for a pinch hitter in the third inning. We'll have analysis once the Orioles update his status. Analysis: David Kerr

Eagles waived Emmanuel Acho.

Acho is dealing with a thumb injury that is going to require surgery and the Eagles felt as though they had enough depth at linebacker, so they waived him. Another team may pick him up, but it's unlikely that he'll play this year due to injury. Analysis: David Kerr

Matt Kemp is not in the Padres starting lineup on Thursday.

Kemp is batting .238 with one home run and eight RBIs over the last seven days, so this appears to be a day off for the veteran outfielder. Travis Jankowski will lead off and play right field for San Diego on Thursday night. Analysis: David Kerr

Terrelle Pryor underwent a MRI on his hamstring.

Pryor is hoping to play in the Browns' preseason game against Tampa Bay, but his status is still unknown at this point. If the MRI looks clean, Pryor will probably take the field in what will likely be his final showcase to secure a roster spot. We will have an update on his status on Friday. Analysis: David Kerr

Kyle Blanks will begin his rehab assignment Thursday with Triple-A Round Rock.

The oft-injured Blanks is finally ready to begin a rehab assignment after landing on the disabled list in mid-June. Assuming he doesn't have a setback, the Rangers will likely activate him after rosters expand on September 1. Analysis: David Kerr

Kyle Seager is not in the Mariners starting lineup on Thursday.

This is nothing more than a routine day off for Seager. Chicago's starter, Carlos Rodon, has been on point as of late, while Seager has just two hits in his last 27 at-bats. Brad Miller will bat eighth and start at third base for Seattle on Thursday night. Analysis: David Kerr

Emmanuel Sanders (hamstring) is scheduled to be full participant in practice next week.

Sanders has been hampered by a hamstring injury for much of the preseason, but seems to finally be making positive strides. Even if Sanders participates in practice next week, it seems highly unlikely that he will appear in the team's final preseason game. As of now, Sanders should be ready for Week 1 against Baltimore, but he progress should be monitored on a daily basis, especially if you haven't drafted your fantasy team yet. Analysis: David Kerr

Adrian Gonzalez (knee) is confident that he will play on Friday.

It does not appear Gonzalez will miss any significant time after fouling a pitch off his leg verse the Reds on Thursday. Scott Van Slyke stands at the ready if Gonzalez is unavailable. Analysis: Jerry Colvin

Letroy Guion will be suspended for the first three regular season games.

After his arrest for felony possession of marijuana and a firearm, which Guion pleaded out to this comes as no surprise. Datone Jones remains atop the Packers depth chart. Analysis: Jerry Colvin

James Loney has dropped the appeal of his 1-game suspension and will serve it Thursday.

While Loney sits on the bench tonight after making contact with an umpire on Saturday, Daniel Nava will get the start at first base. Nava is batting .211 with a .244 wOBA verse LHP this year and could make a decent punt play batting in the two spot verse Tommy Milone despite this years woes. Analysis: Jerry Colvin

Denard Span is not in the Nationals starting lineup on Thursday.

Span is 2-for-9 with two doubles since returning from the disabled on Tuesday. Michael Taylor who has a .299 wOBA verse RHP gets the start tonight verse Andrew Cashner who has recorded 10 strikeouts over his last 11 innings with a 3.27 ERA. Analysis: Jerry Colvin
