Reserve point guard Steve Blake said he's ready to play Tuesday night when the Lakers host the New Orleans Hornets. Blake has been sidelined since Nov. 11 because of multiple injuries. He underwent surgery to repair a torn abdominal muscle Dec. 5. More recently Blake had a platelet-rich plasma injection and cortisone short to heal a sore groin.

Nationals placed Stephen Strasburg on the 15-day disabled list with neck tightness.

Something had to be wrong with Strasburg, given his season-long struggles. He has not shown his usual control with his off-speed pitches and needs to get healthy to return to his expected dominant self, and the DL trip is a start in that direction. There is no hint that the neck issue has been the cause of his problems this season, but at least he gets to take some time off to be examined and hopefully set on track to pitch well again. Analysis: Ivar G. Royals activated Alex Rios from the 15-day disabled list.

Rios will rejoin the Royals, taking the roster spot formerly filled with Paulo Orlandok, who was optioned out to Triple-A Buffalo. Rios should step back in to his regular role in right field for Kansas City, possibly Saturday night in Wrigley against the Cubs. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Royals optioned Paulo Orlando to Triple-A Omaha.

The Royals needed to make room for Alex Rios on the roster. Orlando failed to impress in his time with the big league club, hitting just .241 with one home run, 14 runs scored, seven RBI and two stolen bases over 112 at bats. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Nationals recalled Taylor Hill from Triple A Syracuse.

This may signify something with regard to Stephen Strasburg going to the DL, but no corresponding move has been announced yet. Hill will work out of the National bullpen to begin his time in the big leagues. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Update: Miguel Castro will get MRI on his index finger.

Castro was forced to leave Friday night's game with Triple-A Buffalo after developing a right hand issue. He was optioned out in early May in part to work on his control problems, which he has to a limited extent. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Grizzlies are exploring signing center Greg Oden.

Oden, the former first overall draft pick in the 2007 draft, last played for the Heat in 2014. Knee injuries have interrupted his career, limiting him to two seasons with Portland and the aforementioned time with Miami. He may decide to attend the upcoming Grizzly free agent camp in June, but nothing is in concrete yet. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Update: Adam Jones' left ankle is sore after rolling it at plate a few days ago.

Jones is sitting out Saturday's contest against the Rays, his first day off in 2015. In his place, David Lough will man center field and hit eighth. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Adeiny Hechavarria is expected to miss at least the next two games and maybe more with left shoulder bruise.

He hurt his shoulder after colliding with Christian Yelich Friday evening. Donovan Solano will get the start at short on Saturday and hit eighth in the Marlin batting order when Miami takes on the Mets in New York. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Avisail Garcia has returned to the White Sox starting lineup on Saturday.

Garcia missed the past five White Sox contests with a knee issue. He is back to action on Saturday, however, and hitting third in the order with Jose Abreu sitting out the game against the Astros in Houston.  Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Mets manager Terry Collins said Juan Lagares' rib issue won't get worse by playing, but his playing through some discomfort.

Lagares has been dealing with a slight muscle strain under his right arm pit since mid May. He will see occasional off days as he recovers while playing in center for the Mets.  Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Update: X-ray's taken on Jose Abreu's finger came back negative.

Well that's good news for the White Sox and even better news for Abreu's fantasy owners. He still won't play Saturday and should be considered day-to-day for the time being. Analysis: Howard Bender

Jose Abreu (finger) is not in the White Sox starting lineup on Saturday.

Abreu was not expected to be in the lineup Saturday after leaving Friday's game with an irritation on his finger and then being sent for x-rays Saturday morning. Adam LaRoche will play first base with Emilio Bonifacio handling the work at DH. Analysis: Howard Bender

Adam Jones is not in the Orioles starting lineup on Saturday.

It looks like Jones is just getting a regular day off here to rest. There's no injury reported and he's played in every single game so far, including both ends of the doubleheader Thursday. David Lough will fill in for him in center field. Analysis: Howard Bender
