Fantasy Player Updates & News  2016 MLB Draft Guide Is Here!

Doug Martin played on 28 of 54 offensive snaps on Sunday, compared to LeGarrette Blount's 18.

Blue Jays have hired Eric Wedge as a Player Development Advisor.

Wedge previously served as manager of the Indian between 2002-09, then with the Mariners in 2011-13. He rejoins his former boss in Cleveland, Mark Shapiro, in the Toronto front office, although the manager for Triple-A Buffalo has not yet been named, so stay tuned to see if Wedge will head back to the field in the near future. Analysis: Ivar G. Kevin Martin (right wrist) is out for Saturday's game.

This marks the seventh consecutive game that Martin has missed with his injury. Look for Zach LaVine to see additional minutes with Martin again sitting on the sidelines. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Cubs signed RHP Tommy Nance to a minor league contract.

Nance pitched in 2015 with the Windy City Thunderbolts in the independent Frontier League. He posted a 4.74 ERA and 1.42 WHIP over 29 appearances, with a 40/13 K:BB ratio in 38 innings. It remains to be be seen if he will get an invitation to the major league spring training camp. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Chad Jenkins was designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.

With the Blue Jays inking Gavin Floyd to a MLB contract, Jenkins was the odd-man out and has been DFA'd. He saw limited action with Toronto last season, toiling away in the minors at Triple-A through the bulk of the season. Jenkins did pitch well in 23 games with the Blue Jays over the 2012-13 seasons, and at just age 28, he has a chance to catch on elsewhere if he does not end up back in Triple-A in the Toronto system. Analysis: Ivar G. Blue Jays officially announce signing of Gavin Floyd to a Major League deal.

The MLB contract is a surprise, given that Floyd saw action in only seven games last season in relief. He is likely headed to the bullpen, although a spot starter role may pop up occasionally during the season. He did start nine games for the Braves in 2014 prior to his stint in the Cleveland pen in 2014, so he does have the experience to step into the rotation if needed.  Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Matt Bonner has been ruled out Saturday with a left calf strain.

During Friday's game, Matt Bonner was injured and he will miss a great opportunity with Tim Duncan also out on Saturday. This could be the moment we have all been waiting for, Boban Marjanovic drawing the start. Against the hapless Lakers, he could put up a good stat-line. Monitor the situation and feel free to pull the trigger on a lottery-ticket DFS play. With other offensive juggernauts, Marjanovic may not hit the jackpot. Analysis: Mike Cahill

Tim Duncan (knee) has been ruled out for Saturday.

There is no need for the Spurs to play Tim Duncan against the Lakers. The Spurs should win this one handily even though the Lakers are just surging lately with two wins in a row. Can we please just get a Boban Marjanovic start in Duncan's place? He should be starting but he might not. If he does, play him as he produces in a limited role. Analysis: Mike Cahill

J.J. Hoover has won his arbitration hearing against the Reds.

After being only $175,000 off from one another, J.J. Hoover will make $1.4 million in 2016. He is expected to take on the closer role for the Reds so if he goes to arbitration next year he should see another raise. Last season Hoover played in 67 games with a total of 64 1/3 innings pitched. He posted a 2.94 ERA with 18 holds, one save, 52 Ks, and 31 BB. Analysis: Mike Cahill

Darqueze Dennard (shoulder) should be ready for the start of training camp.

For the Bengals' sake they will need Darqueze Dennard to be ready and to step it up next year with Adam Jones and Leon Hall due to hit free-agency. The shoulder injury was pretty bad, tearing his Labrum and Rotator Cuff. As long as the injury doesn't affect him mentally, he should be good-to-go. Dennard was the 24th overall pick in the 2014 draft after winning the Jim Thorpe Award for the top defensive back his senior year at Michigan State. Analysis: Mike Cahill

Ian Mahinmi (back) is questionable for Saturday's game.

The injury status for Ian Mahinmi has been a constant for his season. He has missed the last four games for the Pacers and he is likely to return for Saturday's game. With his return, Jordan Hill and Lavoy Allen will lose some time, but Mahinmi may be limited in his first game back to be cautious. Players should avoid all three of them, but if Mahinmi can stay healthy, he could rewards owners. Analysis: Mike Cahill

Jesse Chavez won his arbitration case with the Blue Jays and will make $4 million this season.

The Blue Jays and Jesse Chavez were only $400,000 apart on their terms, so there really wasn't a risk in taking this all the way to arbitration. Chavez will almost double his salary from last season after pitching in 157 innings with a 4.18 ERA, 136 Ks, and 48 BB. His W-L of 7-15 is not the prettiest, but some of that can be attributed to his 97th rank in run support last season. Analysis: Mike Cahill

Mariners signed free agent C Steven Lerud to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Last year, Steven Lerud played for the Nationals' Triple-A affiliate putting up a batting average of .238 with 23 RBIs, 2 HRs, 19 BB, and 58 Ks in 60 games. He has mainly been a journey-man in the MLB with very limited amounts of appearances in the majors. The only team he has seen time with in the majors has been the Phillies and he has been on Braves, Nationals, and Mariners' minor-league teams. He is more of a depth add and nowhere near a 40-man roster spot. Analysis: Mike Cahill
