On Thursday, Cooper appeared on the injury report but it doesn't seem to be concerning.
He is coming off a career-high 173 receiving yards against the Buccaneers in Week 8.
Even though Cooper has been good, he is not a recommended start against the Broncos in Week 9.
This follows what was said to be a disappointing training camp, where Holmes suffered from the drops and failed to stand out in most practices. Things are breaking his way in terms of competition for playing time, as Sammy Watkins got traded, Anquan Boldin retired, and Rod Streater (toe) is week-to-week, but unless Holmes gets going he could get bumped out of a starting spot by Streater or Philly Brown. Jordan Matthews and rookie Zay Jones look like the two locks to sit atop the Week 1 depth chart.
Despite being victimized by rookie Chris Godwin for a spectacular one-handed touchdown grab in one-on-one drills, Elliott's day was largely a success. He actually had solid coverage on the acrobatic catch, and he also picked off Jameis Winston during team drills during the session. Elliott added a strip of receiver Shaq Hill in one-on-ones, ripping the ball loose just after the pass had arrived. The FSU product recorded 10 tackles (eight solo) and one pass defensed in six games last season and logged 38 total snaps (31 on defense, seven on special teams) in last Thursday's win over the Jaguars.
The emerging 2017 third-round pick has been turning heads throughout camp, and he certainly didn't squander Wednesday's opportunity against the first-team defense. Godwin made highlight-reel one-handed touchdown grab over Javien Elliott in one-on-one drills and also turned in a pretty fingertip catch in the middle of the field during team drills in the latter portion of practice. How Godwin and presumed third receiver Adam Humphries will split snaps to start the season remains to be seen, but the rookie will look to make another strong impression against the Browns on Saturday.
