Browns coach Mike Pettine believes rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel is frustrated because he’s not playing. “I can sense it,” Pettine said Wednesday.

A professional organization doesn't waste a first round pick on a player who they don't have high hopes for. Manziel is one of the most hyped players in the NFL and he probably hasn't sat around for this amount of time in a while. The Cleveland fans will continue to chant "Manziel" if Hoyer is struggling and the Browns are losing, but it is the coaches decision. It is up to Pettine when, and if Manziel becomes the starter at some point in 2014.

Johnny Manziel said at this point he's content to sit back, study Brian Hoyer and continue to get better.

Well that's a nice attitude to have, Johnny. Good job. Understanding that the first year should be a learning experience is a nice way to start your career and a good sign of maturity, especially for a guy with a profile as high as his. It also helps when you look at your potential receiving corps and even with the impending return of Josh Gordon, it looks bleak. Johnny Football knows he'll get his opportunity. It doesn't have to be this year.

Johnny Manziel will ‘probably not’ be used in Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints unless QB Brian Hoyer is injured, according to offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan.

After Brian Hoyer's second half performance on Sunday, this doesn't come as a shock. Browns fans are clamoring for Manziel to be under center, but as long as Hoyer is producing, it could be a while.

Browns coach Mike Pettine says Johnny Manziel package "could happen" vs the Saints Sunday.

And it begins again ... It's like a rule that we have to speak of Johnny Manziel at least once a week or the world will come to an end. Most figured that Coach Pettine would work him into the offense somehow and it looks like it could happen this week against the Saints. You should under no circumstances start him in any of your Fantasy leagues.

Browns coach Mike Pettine gave an in-game vote of confidence to Browns QB Brian Hoyer when he told the media following the game that inserting QB Johnny Manziel was never an option.

Jeez, are we still having this conversation? It was a hard-fought effort by the Browns on Sunday and there is no reason to be having a quarterback-controversy here. Why can't we all just let Manziel sit on the bench and learn for crying out loud?

Browns head coach Mike Pettine said he would consider playing Johnny Manziel against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Brian Hoyer remains the starter, but the Browns could install a package to get Manziel in for a few drives, similar to what the 49ers did with Colin Kaepernick before he replaced Alex Smith as the starter. Hoyer's already limited fantasy value would take a hit if he starts losing snaps to Manziel.

Johnny Manziel said after the game he thought he took a big step forward in the fourth preseason game.

There was nowhere to go but up. Manziel showed flashes of the potential that had some fantasy players excited coming into training camp, but he is nowhere close to being ready to contribute to a fantasy team.

Coach Mike Pettine won’t rule out playing two QBs at some point this season.

Come on, Mike. Enough already, dude. Stop talking about your QB situation. You made a very sound decision and no one with a brain in their head would fault you for it. Stop trying to pander to the Manziel-fluffers of the world. They're thinking with their hearts. You were thinking with your head. Stand by your call and don't waver.

Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel has support from veteran Browns receiver Nate Burleson, who said, "I’ll just say this, Johnny’s still the man." Burleson also noted that he is pleased with head coach Mike Pettine’s decision to start QB Brian Hoyer.

Maybe Burleson should focus on staying healthy for once in his career rather than spend his time yapping to the media like some brown-nosing, hapless suck-up. He knows that the club will want to move towards Manziel at some point, but early in the season it will be all Hoyer. That's the way it is and that's the way it should be. Manziel should watch and learn for his first year, as much as he possibly can. That's how he's going to get into games -- by keeping his mouth shut and his eyes open. His time will come, but not yet. Let's get over this already, people. And Burleson just needs to shut his yap.

Johnny Manziel was fined $12,000 for his middle finger at the Redskins sideline.

Welcome to the NFL, kid. Stop being an idiot.
