Paul Pierce (knee) will not play on Wednesday.

The veteran is just taking a breather as he gets ready for the regular season. He'll be ready to go next week when the Wizards head to Miami for their first regular season game.

Paul Pierce (bruised knee) is making the trip to New York.

Pierce sat out Monday's preseason game with the knee issue, but the injury seems to be rather minor. The Wizards will see if he can play during the week, but don't be surprised to see them hold him out to err on the side of caution.

Clippers couldn't work out a sign-and-trade with the Brooklyn Nets for Paul Pierce.

"The Truth" had his worst NBA season in 2013-14, and is now heading into his age 37 season. While he isn't the elite talent he once was, he's a nice sign for the Wizards -- who recently lost out on Trevor Ariza -- at $11 for his final two years.

Paul Pierce was knocked out of the World Series of Poker late Thursday night finishing in about 800th place out of 6,683 players.

The Truth lasted about 28 hours into the Main Event, finishing just out of the money. Andrew Feldman pointed out something interesting: A WSOP min-cash is $18,406. Using Pierce's 2013 salary, he would've made that in 2.5 minutes on the court. Speaking of the court, there is still no movement on that front for him or any of the other big-name free agents.

Paul Pierce's representatives have told teams he is seeking a two-year contract in the range of $9-10 million per year.

It looks like Pierce is looking to play only two more seasons but is a team willing to give an aging player that kind of money. He made $15.3 million last season and hasn't made less than $10 million since 2003.

Nets free agent Paul Pierce said he wants to play at least two more seasons.

And it seems as if he wants those two final seasons to come with the Clippers and not the Nets, but Brooklyn's asking price for a sign-and-trade may be a bit much. The Nets are reportedly wanting either J.J. Redick or 1st-round picks in exchange for Pierce, although sending off first-round picks to the Nets to get Pierce would arguably be a decent deal for the Clippers as they would hope that each pick would be one of the last two to close out the first round.

Update: The Nets want J.J. Redick or 1st-round picks from Clippers for Paul Pierce.

You had to think the asking price for Pierce was going to be high, right? The Nets were contenders last year and are already going with a new coach. If they're going to overhaul this much, then they're going to have to get a lot of help both for now and the future. If the Clippers don;t pony up, someone else surely will.

Nets not interested in trading Paul Pierce to the Clippers.

The Nets had no interest in completing a sign-and-trade with the Clippers as they simply weren't going to get anything strong out of it. They were looking at some combination of Jared Dudley, Matt Barnes and Reggie Bullock? Yeah, that's not getting it done, folks.

Paul Pierce will play Tuesday against the Knicks.

The Nets are rolling out pretty much a full lineup as Pierce, Deron Williams, and Joe Johnson are all in tonight's lineup.

Paul Pierce (shoulder) is a game time decision for Tuesday's game vs. the Knicks.

The Nets have seen Pierce back in action since suffering the shoulder injury, so they're going to let him make the call. If he wants to play Tuesday, he will, but he probably won't log his usual minutes.
