Mike Minor has agreed to a one-year deal with the Braves worth $3.85 million.

He earned the large raise after putting together a 3.21 ERA and 1.09 WHIP to go along with 181 strikeouts over 204 2/3 frames last season. The lefty will have to be a key piece again in 2014 if the Braves want to repeat as NL East champs.

Mike Minor will get extra rest and will make his next start at home in the series opener against the Indians Tuesday.

Paul Maholm will step in for a start to allow Minor to rest for a few extra days. Minor has seen his ERA rise from 2.76 to 3.06 as he's allowed eight runs over his last two starts - covering 8.2 innings, so it's a nice time to get him a breather even though he's still about 20 innings short of the 179.1 he tossed last season.

Minor has been outstanding this season, having taken another step forward after a solid season last year. Minor is 12-5 with 3.06 ERA/3.14 FIP, has lowered his HR/FB% by about four percent from last year down to 7.9% and increased his K:BB rate from 2.59 last year to an impressive 4.03 this season.

What my colleague, Michael Pichan, is saying here is that Minor is just dialed in at this point. He's been consistently showing fantastic control for almost 2 months and should be in your lineup whenever he takes the mound.

Mike Minor pitched 6.2 innings of one run ball allowing eight hits, one home run, two walks, and four strikeouts in the Braves 10-1 win over the Diamondbacks.

The high amount of HRs allowed scares me, as I'm always reminded of Ian Kennedy who would have been a top fantasy pitcher of the last few years if he could have just kept opposing batters in the park. Minor does a good job of limiting the damage however (as pointed out by my colleague Wayne Bretsky), and is someone you should be rolling out every time he's on the mound.

Minor pushed his record to 5-2 on the season while ripping off his third straight quality start. He's allowed more than three earned runs just once this season through eight turns in the rotation and boasts a strong 2.75 ERA to show for it. Minor has allowed seven home runs already this season, but with just 10 walks against 42 strikeouts, he does a nice job of limiting the damage.

Mike Minor pitched seven innings of one run ball allowing three walks and striking out seven Reds on the way to his fourth win of the season in the Braves 7-2 victory Wednesday.

The only damage allowed by Mike Minor was a solo-home run to the Reds Zack Cozart. Minor has been plagued by the long-ball of late having allowed five home runs in his last three starts, but overall his peripherals suggest he is taking a minor step forward from the respectable first full-season he put together last year and is on his way to fulfilling his pre-draft sleeper hype.
