Tigers signed OF J.D. Martinez to a minor league contract.

The Astros ended their relationship with Martinez over the weekend. In 2013, he only batted .250/.272/.378 in 2013 and the struggles continued this Spring. He was added for depth in the Detroit outfield.

Multiple teams called with interest in J.D. Martinez as soon as he was released by Astros this morning.

Martinez could have some value should a team need depth. He's got some pop in his bat and a little bit of speed. He just needs to cut the strikeouts and fix his overall plate discipline.

J.D. Martinez left Friday's game with an left wrist injury, Brian McTaggart reports.

Just Maxwell replaced Martinez. Depending when Martinez is able to return, Maxwell will likely get more starts going forward. Maxwell hits left-handed pitching much better than righties, with a 300 points OPS difference between the two.

J.D. Martinez was removed from Tuesday's game after colliding with Justin Maxwell in right-center field.

Although the Astros have yet to make an official announcement on the extent of his injury, Martinez should be considered day-to-day for the time being. Martinez has been serviceable in deep mixed leagues over the last few weeks, but if he lands of the disabled list due to tonight's collision, it would be wise to parts ways with the Astros outfielder.

J.D. Martinez is not in the Astros' starting lineup on Sunday.

The Astros are going with a very AAA-esque lineup today (even more than most days) which makes Hector Santiago a decent sleeper play. Santiago pitched 6.1 innings in his last start and gave up just one earned while striking out six in the win against Oakland.

Astros placed J.D. Martinez on the 15-day disabled list with a right knee sprain.

Not the biggest loss in the world unless you are in NL only leagues. Most Mixed Leaguers have way more inspiring options to choose from. Keep him reserved for the waiver wire, especially while he is on the DL.
