Carlos Santana is not in the Indians starting lineup on Monday.

This is a day off for Santana because he is really struggling at the plate and has nothing to do with an injury. Santana has a brutal .145 batting average this season which is making his fantasy owners shake their fist at him. Hopefully, the slugging third baseman can turn things around quickly or he will find himself on the waiver wire. Do not drop him, but do not play him until he start hitting better.

Carlos Santana says he's playing with sore left groin and it's hurting his hitting.

Well this a change from an earlier report in which Terry Francona expressed concern over supposed comments made by Santana that the position switches have affected his hitting. If it's an injury, then the team can deal with it appropriately, but if it's the position-switching that has him all twisted up, then Francona needs to find him a permanent home on the field and stick with it. This sounds like it could be a hot discussion over the next several days, so prepare yourself. Santana is currently batting .186 with no home runs and just one RBI.

Carlos Santana is catching game 2 of Wednesday's double header.

Santana will play 3rd base primarily for the Indians but Francona will put Yan Gomes at DH and give him a break behind the plate for the 2nd game of the team's doubleheader. Mike Aviles will slot in at 3rd base.

Indians manager Terry Francona said on Wednesday that Carlos Santana will probably be the third baseman on Opening Day in Oakland.

He will also serve as a back up catcher for Yan Gomes as well. Lonnie Chisenhall will serve as back-up at 3rd base, designated hitter or as a pinch-hitter.

Indians manager Terry Francona said that Carlos Santana is the teams third baseman, it won't be a platoon situation with Lonnie Chisenhall.

We'll see. Santana's bat plays at any spot, but the jury remains uncertain when tasked with answering the question of whether or not Santana can handle the hot corner defensively.

Carlos Santana will work as in infielder after 1st four days of spring training.

Santana has not played third base in eight years and will mix in work at third, first, and catcher throughout camp. Santana is expected to split some time with Lonnie Chisenhall at third this season as well as play first, catch, and DH.

Carlos Santana said Tuesday that he'll meet with Indians manager Terry Francona and general manager Chris Antonetti in the coming days to come up with a plan for spring training.

Sounds like the team is trying to decide how much first base, third base and catcher Santana will be asked to play. Hopefully he sees plenty of time out from behind the dish as it will help keep his body healthy. The good news for 2014 is that he will qualify at catcher in the vast majority of leagues even if he never dons the tools of ignorance once.

Carlos Santana expecting to play third base for the Indians in 2014.

If this is truly the case, then any thoughts of Lonnie Chisenhall being a sleeper pick in this year's Fantasy Drafts has gone out the window.
