DeVante Parker Headshot

UPDATE: DeVante Parker (back) will be active Week 13.

Well, this is certainly interesting news as it was looking like Parker was unlikely to play this week but he is active for the Dolphins today against Ravens. Parker has a tricky matchup against a Baltimore secondary that will most likely be getting Jimmy Smith back but if you have no other option, he makes for a decent, if not unspectacular, play today.

Casey McGehee Headshot

Casey McGehee signed a one-year deal with Japan's Yomiuri Giants.

After playing in the big leagues sporadically since 2008, McGehee has decided to take his talents abroad and sign with the Yomiuri Giants in Japan. The former Marlin was hitting just .258 with a sub-.700 OPS in his Major League career, so it's no surprise that he's on his way out of the MLB.

Hector Sanchez Headshot

Padres declined to tender Hector Sanchez a contract and he is now a free agent.

Sanchez played just 28 games at the Major League level in 2016, hitting just .241 while OPSing .632. He most likely will catch on somewhere as a non-roster invitee for Spring Training but it's hard to see him making a Major League roster to begin the 2017 season seeing that his career stats are far from impressive.

Jose Pirela Headshot

Padres declined to tender Jose Pirela a contract and he is now a free agent.

The 27-year-old infielder hit just .154 in his 41 big league plate appearances in 2016, so it's no surprise that San Diego opted to move on from him. Pirela spent most of his time in the Yankees organization prior to 2016, where he appeared in 37 Major League games and hit .230. It wouldn't be surprising if we don't see him in the Majors at all next season.

Jon Edwards Headshot

Padres declined to tender Jon Edwards a contract and he is now a free agent.

Edwards was traded from the Rangers to the Padres in August of 2015 in a deal that brought Will Venable to Texas, but he's been a disaster at the Major League level, making ten appearances and sporting an ERA of 10.17. The 28-year-old made just one appearance in 2016, so it's hard to see him catching on with a big league team at any point in the near future.

Erik Johnson Headshot

Padres declined to tender Erik Johnson a contract and he is now a free agent.

Johnson is coming off of a disappointing 2016 season and he will miss the entire 2017 season due to Tommy John surgery, so it makes sense that the Padres would choose to move on from him. The 26-year-old is 7-10 in his career with a 6.65 ERA but it wouldn't be a total surprise if someone signs him as a low-risk potential bullpen arm once he's healthy.
