Yordano Ventura logged seven innings during Saturday’s 7-6 victory versus the Blue Jays, giving up five runs on six hits and two walks while collecting a couple of strikeouts.

Coming off an excellent seven-inning performance versus the Astros last time out, Ventura began Saturdays effort by retiring the first 11 batters he faced. However, the Blue Jays bats got to him in the fourth and fifth innings for five runs. Manager Ned Yost decided to let his young fireballer work through the rocky middle innings and came away looking like he made the right decision, as Ventura ultimately earned his sixth win of the season. The 24-year-old righty will return to the mound Thursday afternoon in Detroit. Analysis: Nate Miller
