Freddy Galvis Headshot

Galvis is hitting .226 (12-for-53) with one home run and seven RBI during his 18 spring training games played.

Galvis, who is known more for his defense, is coming off of a meager 2016 campaign in which he slashed just .241/.274/.399. He did pop 20 home runs, but that was supported by a likely unsustainable 12.5 percent HR/FB rate. He's set to man the Phillies' starting shortstop role to open the season, but will likely be displaced by top prospect J.P. Crawford when he makes his debut sometime during 2017. At that point, Galvis may become a reserve infielder or see more playing time at second base.

Deyonta Davis Headshot

Davis was recalled Sunday from the D-League's Iowa Energy.

Marc Gasol is dealing with a foot injury and is questionable for Sunday's game against the Warriors, so Davis adds another available body in the frontcourt to make up for a potential absence. If Gasol does play, however, Davis could find minutes hard to come by, especially if the game remains competitive. It wouldn't be surprising if Davis was re-assigned to the Energy shortly after Sunday's contest.

Bronson Arroyo Headshot

Arroyo (head) is scheduled to pitch in a minor-league game Tuesday, Zach Buchanan of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Arroyo was fortunate to avoid a concussion after he was struck in the head in a March 18 on an errant throw by catcher Devin Mesoraco, and after a week off to recover from the head injury, it looks like he's been given clearance to return to the mound. Assuming Tuesday's outing goes well, Arroyo will pitch in another minor-league outing April 2 before rejoining the Reds in Cincinnati. At that point, the team would decide whether or not to add him to the 40-man roster or go with some of their younger internal options to fill out the rotation prior to Opening Day.

Wade Baldwin Headshot

Baldwin was recalled Sunday from the D-League's Iowa Energy.

Baldwin has spent a ton of time in the D-League this season, playing in 33 games for the Energy and posting averages of 12.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.3 steals across 28.2 minutes. With Tony Allen recently dealing with knee soreness, Baldwin represents an emergency option in the backcourt in case Allen's injury flares up again. That said, more likely than not, Baldwin will struggle to get minutes, as he's not a member of the team's regular rotation.

Aaron Judge Headshot

Judge is batting .300 (15-for-50) with two home runs and four RBI in his first 20 spring training games.

The power-hitting 24-year-old has enjoyed a solid spring training campaign in the days leading up to his first Opening Day start. Though it's a small sample size, Judge's 21 percent strikeout rate during camp is an encouraging sign, as he struck out in over 44 percent of his at-bats during his 27 games played for the Yankees in 2016.
2:34 pm (EST)
Cody Anderson Headshot

Anderson (elbow) will have his Tommy John surgery conducted in Texas on Monday, MLB.com's Jordan Bastian reports.

Renowned surgeon Dr. Keith Meister will perform the procedure for Anderson, who was diagnosed with the UCL tear in his right elbow a little over two weeks ago. He'll miss the entire 2017 season while recovering from the procedure and may not be ready to go for the start of the 2018 campaign.
2:26 pm (EST)
Diamond Stone Headshot

Stone (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Kings.

Stone has been dealing with a bone bruise to his left knee since the end of February and it's still giving him enough discomfort to keep him on the inactive list Sunday. Even when healthy, Stone wasn't a part of the regular rotation, so he shouldn't be expected to take on a sizable role once cleared. That said, he remains without any sort of timetable for a return and will likely need to log a full practice before being eligible for game situations.
