Ryan Flaherty Headshot

Flaherty is dealing with some arm soreness and is out of the O's lineup Sunday, Roch Kubatko of MASN reports.

It doesn't seem like this is anything to worry about, and he should be back relatively soon. With Manny Machado leaving to play in the World Baseball Classic and J.J. Hardy out with a back injury, Flaherty has an opportunity to earn a bigger role for himself as the Orioles' super-utilty man.

Alexi Amarista Headshot

Amarista participated in his first spring game Sunday and went 0-for-2.

The utility man logged all his innings at shortstop during Colorado's split-squad game, although with Trevor Story locked in at that spot and stalwarts Nolan Arenado, DJ LeMehieu and Ian Desmond rounding off the infield, Amarista seems to just be staying sharp as he prepares for a reserve utility role. The 27-year-old has never hit higher than .257 during his big league career, but his ability to play infield and outfield along with his major league contract status should give him an inside track to one of the more prominent bench roles for the Rockies.

Kristaps Porzingis Headshot

Porzingis (ankle) has officially been deemed "doubtful" to play Monday against Toronto, Ian Begley of ESPN reports.

It would be a major surprise if Porzingis is cleared to play, as he continues to nurse a sprained left ankle, which he sustained during Thursday's loss to the Cavaliers. The Knicks haven't released a timetable, but the team said over the weekend that the second-year big man would be sidelined for "several days." The fact that Porzingis hasn't been completely ruled out could be viewed as somewhat of an encouraging sign, but his availability for at least the next two games -- the Knicks are off Tuesday before facing Orlando on Wednesday -- is in serious jeopardy.

Brett Cecil Headshot

Cecil gave up two hits but no runs in one inning during Sunday's 7-4 Grapefruit League victory over the Marlins. He struck out two.

Cecil, making his St. Louis debut after eight seasons in Toronto, did it the hard way Sunday. He opened the fourth by surrendering back-to-back singles to Martin Prado and Christian Yelich before setting down Giancarlo Stanton, Justin Bour and Marcell Ozuna, sandwiching a pair of strikeouts of the two sluggers around Bour's fly ball. Cecil, who's also on Team USA's roster for the WBC, brings a career 41-42 record, 4.20 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, 78 holds and 11 saves across 656 innings to the Cardinals bullpen.

Al Jefferson Headshot

Jefferson (mouth) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Rockets.

Jefferson underwent dental work and has missed the last two games as a result. He'll likely be a game-time decision Monday, and if he is ultimately ruled out, look for Lavoy Allen and Rakeem Christmas to split the reserve minutes in the frontcourt yet again.
1:01 pm (EST)
Brandon Carlo Headshot

Carlo saw 21:22 worth of ice time in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Stars, logging two shots and two PIM in the process.

Carlo continues to hold his own at the NHL level, while working on the Bruins' top defensive pairing with Zdeno Chara. The 20-year-old has logged five goals and 14 points to go along with 45 PIM in 62 games to date, numbers that restrict his utility to deeper fantasy formats. Carlo's long-term promise makes him a legitimate trade chip, however, per That said, we'd be very surprised if Carlo was moved in advance of the league's upcoming deadline for swaps. The same applies to Charlie McAvoy, with both players viewed as key pillars of Boston's future backline.
1:01 pm (EST)
Zac Dalpe Headshot

Dalpe was reassigned to AHL Cleveland on Monday, Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch reports.

The former Ohio State Buckeye was also claimed off waivers by the Jackets on Monday. Normally, a player claimed off waivers cannot be sent down without first being waived again, but as Portzline explains, Dalpe's case is different because his "waiver clock" had not expired yet. Dalpe may be recalled to the big club at some point before the end of the season, but don't expect him to make any kind of fantasy impact.
12:58 pm (EST)
Scott Kazmir Headshot

Kazmir is scheduled for a simulated game Wednesday, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports.

The left-hander has progressed well thus far, but the Dodgers are insistent on taking things slowly with Kazmir as he recovers from a rib injury. He'll look to work his way into game action next month as he competes for one of the last spots in LA's rotation.
12:58 pm (EST)
Roberto Luongo Headshot

Luongo will be between the pipes in Tuesday's tilt against Carolina, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.

The veteran has had a rough February, with an .871 save percentage and 4.33 GAA in five games. The Hurricanes rank 23rd in the league with 2.48 goals per game, so Luongo will have a chance to redeem himself against a weak offensive squad.
12:56 pm (EST)
Aledmys Diaz Headshot

Diaz went 2-for-2 with a pair of singles, sacrifice fly and one run in Sunday's 7-4 Grapefruit League win over the Marlins.

Diaz brought home Eric Fryer with his fourth-inning sac fly after having been driven in himself by Yadier Molina's second-inning two-bagger. Now in full possession of the starting shortstop job, the second-year phenom will look to build on his stellar .300/.369/.510 line from 2016 in the coming season.
