Latest Update Yasiel Puig enjoys four-hit night Wed Jul, 30, 09:46 AM
Displays great raw power, thanks to a solid build and good athleticism. Also has a great throwing arm, which makes him a natural fit for right field.
Flaws: : Has trouble with breaking pitches and off-speed stuff, so he needs to work on plate discipline and patience in order to maximize potential.
This is Puig's second four-hit game in his last four starts and continue to produce at a high rate for the Dodgers. He's currently batting .317 on the year with 12 home runs, 54 RBI and seven stolen bases and has recently been adjusting to center field where he could continue to play through most of the team's remaining games. The Cuban sensation has limited the antics this year and seems to have found his focus. That will certainly help him maintain his current level of performance.Analyst: Howard Bender
Puig had a chance to become the first player with four triples in over 100 years, but flew out in his final at-bat. Instead, he became just the 33rd player in MLB history to have three triples in a single game. If he is going to hit like this while playing center field, which he did for the first time this season Friday, manager Don Mattingly may want to keep him there. Side note, it is far more unlikely for a player to have three triples in a single game than it is for one to get a cycle as there have been, in comparison, 300 players to have hit for the cycle over the last 100 years.Analyst: Michael Pichan
No word on the nature or extent of the injury, so we don't know how long he could be out. The Raiders may provide an update soon, but he's only competing for a reserve spot anyway.Analyst: Howard Bender
Puig was hit by a pitch on the hand and was removed from last Saturday's game. He's making his first career start in CF Friday night, and if he performs well may be there to stay, as the team lacks any better options at the MLB level, though Joc Peterson is waiting to be called up at Triple-A, something that is expected to happen soon, especially if Matt Kemp is dealt. Puig should be fully recovered from his sore hand after several games off and is s=good to go Friday. Analyst: Ben Diamond
