Latest Update Tommy La Stella making a push for NL Rookie of the Month Mon Jul, 21, 02:27 AM
Is a good hitter who makes consistent contact and limits his strikeouts in impressive fashion. Also draws some walks and plays solid defense at second base.
Flaws: : Doesn't have much power to speak of. Also, he doesn't steal a lot of bases, so his offensive impact is minimal (especially at the big-league level).
La Stella is putting together a solid rookie season where he has a slash line of .297/.371/.376 with 21 RBI, 12 runs scored, two stolen bases, and 19 walks to 23 strikeouts. His average ranks third best among NL rookies, OBP and walk totals rank second, while his RBI total is tied for fourth granted he has over forty fewer at-bats then most of the rookies he's tied with. La Stella lacks the power and speed to warrant ownership in most formats, but if you are desperate for a middle infielder than at least with the Braves rookie it appears you can count on a solid average with a decent number of runs scored and driven in. La Stella has locked down the second base job since he was called up to replace the struggling Dan Uggla. After his performance today La Stella is now hitting .292 with a .371 OBP on the season. Analyst: Jonathan Impemba
La Stella left Tuesday's game early after taking a pitch off the foot. It appears that the initial swelling has subsided and he'll make the start Wednesday, but be careful as something like this could flare up on him mid-game and he could be replaced. DFS players should look elsewhere.Analyst: Howard Bender
La Stella left Tuesday's game with a bruised foot, but it is only a minor issue. He should be fine going forward.Analyst: David Kerr
