Latest Update Quality start for Buchanan but Phillies fall to Mets Fri Aug, 29, 10:27 PM
Is pretty good at throwing strikes repeatedly, and is at his best when inducing plenty of groundball outs. Has good size for a big-league pitcher.
Flaws: : His stuff is not overpowering, even at lower levels, so he has a tendency to get hit harder than he should for the highest level of baseball.
Buchanan has a 3.30 ERA in the month of August following his fourth quality start of the month. His next start will come on the road against the Braves on Wednesday.Analyst: Jonathan Impemba
Despite allowing only two earned runs on Sunday, the Phillies rookie hurler was forced to settle for a loss after his offense failed to come through for him. He is now 6-7 with a 4.25 ERA and 1.28 WHIP through 13 big league starts while owning a 53:19 K:BB rate over 78.1 innings. He has certainly shown some promise at times this season, but at the age of 25, he is far to inconsistent to warrant ownership outside of NL-only leagues. He will look to keep up the pace when he takes on the Cardinals on Saturday.Analyst: Matthew Beck
Buchanan is taking over the rotation spot that opened when Cliff Lee went on the DL. He had tossed a pair of QS before this start, and will presumably be part of the Philly rotation going forward.Analyst: Ivar G. Anderson
DB55 moved up into a tie for second most wins among NL rookie pitchers, with three others behind Padres Jesse Hahn (7-3), but that can be misleading as he owns a 4.39 ERA and 1.29 WHIP suggesting he has plenty of run support, at times, this season.Analyst: Michael Pichan
