Latest Update Lake is not in the Cubs starting lineup on Tuesday Tue Jul, 01, 02:43 PM
Owns a tremendous arm, which is his best tool in the field. Also displays pretty good power and base-stealing speed. Has good hands, both with the bat and glove.
Flaws: : May not have enough quickness and range to play the shortstop position in the big leagues. Also needs to work on becoming a more patient hitter at the dish.
Junior Lake struck out four times last night and even including a bat over his knee after the second one. He has been hitless in his last 13 at-bats now, with seven strikeouts mixed in, and his on-base percentage for the year is down to .259. The Cubs are probably giving him a day to regroup and get his head straight during this slump.Analyst: Drew Phelps
The Nationals are starting a right hander, and the Cubs are responding with an all left-handed outfield, which excludes Lake. Lake started the first game of the double header, and went 0 for 4, whiffing twice.Analyst: Ivar G. Anderson
Lake left Thursday's game after a scary looking injury, but appears to be fine. He should be back in the Cubs' lineup on Saturday or Sunday.Analyst: David Kerr
Lake is still considered day-to-day with a head injury he suffered Thursday after crashing into the outfield wall. The team seems to be downplaying it and doesn't feel that a DL stint is going to be necessary. Justin Ruggiano will handle the work in center field Friday.Analyst: Howard Bender
