Latest Update Bogaerts will return to shortstop after Will Middlebrooks gets back, club source says Thu Jul, 31, 04:01 PM
Is a naturally gifted hitter with tremendous power potential and awesome bat speed. Sprays the ball to all fields. Has a great arm and a very projectable 6-3 frame.
Flaws: : While he's improving his defense at shortstop, he might not have enough glove to play the position in the bigs. Also doesn't boast a lot of base-stealing speed.
The Sox will go back to their original configuration with Stephen Drew out of the way. Look for Brock Holt and the recently acquired Kelly Johnson to fill in at third until Middlebrooks returns.Analyst: Howard Bender
After hitting just .135 in the month of June, Bogaerts has been able to turn things around, slashing .297/.316/.486 with two home runs since returning from the All-Star break (37 AB). At this point in the season, there is little chance the Red Sox scratch back to get in the running for a playoff spot, so even if Bogaerts was to revert back to his old ways he is going to remain a constant in the team's starting lineup as they continue to build for the future. However, fantasy owners will want to keep him on a short leash, because once he goes cold there is no telling when he will get back on track after what we have seen up to this point. After six-straight games, Bogaerts will take a seat and get some rest. Brock Holt will cover the hot corner for the Sox on Sunday. It's a good thing Bogaerts is taking some time here because his .191 July average is killing his owners.Analyst: Howard Bender
Trying to squeeze as many lefties into the lineup as he can, Red Sox manager John Farrell wil go with Stephen Drew at shortstop and Brock Holt at third with Bogaerts on the bench.Analyst: Howard Bender
