Latest Update Xander Bogaerts is being evaluated for a concussion Fri Aug, 22, 09:51 PM
Is a naturally gifted hitter with tremendous power potential and awesome bat speed. Sprays the ball to all fields. Has a great arm and a very projectable 6-3 frame.
Flaws: : While he's improving his defense at shortstop, he might not have enough glove to play the position in the bigs. Also doesn't boast a lot of base-stealing speed.
Bogaerts was hit in the head in the bottom of the fifth inning, but remained in the game until he was removed during the top of the seventh inning. The Red Six will likely update us on the results of his concussion test soon. He was 0-1 prior to leaving the game and was replaced by Brock Holy at shortstop.Analyst: Ben Diamond
There's no reason to demote him at this stage of the game. Perhaps he'll see some more time on the bench but with rosters expanding in September, there's no reason to demote him.Analyst: Howard Bender
The Sox will go back to their original configuration with Stephen Drew out of the way. Look for Brock Holt and the recently acquired Kelly Johnson to fill in at third until Middlebrooks returns.Analyst: Howard Bender
After hitting just .135 in the month of June, Bogaerts has been able to turn things around, slashing .297/.316/.486 with two home runs since returning from the All-Star break (37 AB). At this point in the season, there is little chance the Red Sox scratch back to get in the running for a playoff spot, so even if Bogaerts was to revert back to his old ways he is going to remain a constant in the team's starting lineup as they continue to build for the future. However, fantasy owners will want to keep him on a short leash, because once he goes cold there is no telling when he will get back on track after what we have seen up to this point.
