Latest Update Tony Cruz hits first home run Sun Sep, 21, 02:20 AM
Has the ideal frame for the catching position--relatively short and stocky. Is a natural leader with good receiving skills. Overall, he defends his position well.
Flaws: : Doesn't hit with a lot of consistency, and he only possesses average power. That makes him a poor option to play every day in Major League Baseball.
Cruz earned just his second start since September 9 on Saturday and is now sitting on a .208 average with one home run and 17 RBI through 130 at-bats. As a backup catcher, there is no reason to even remember his name at this point in his career. Analyst: Matthew Beck
Cruz was optioned to Double-A to make room for the returning Yadier Molina. He is batting .195 over 123 at-bats at the big league level this year.Analyst: David Kerr
Well it was either him or recent call-up Audry Perez. We think Cruz is the right call, but fantasy-wise, he's not someone to chase after.Analyst: Howard Bender
