Latest Update Manny Machado not doing baseball activities Mon Aug, 18, 09:28 AM
Has good power and the ability to play a quality shortstop (with a great arm). Can also steal some bases. Is versatile enough to play several infield positions if need be. Is fairly adept at making solid contact.
Flaws: : Struggles at times when he tries to hit home runs too much, so he must be better at using the entire field. Is perhaps too big to play the shortstop position on a regular basis at the big-league level.
Despite starting up a rehab program, the Orioles third baseman has been taking some time away form baseball activities, although there have been no reports indicating a setback. He is eligible to return on August 27, but until we see him participating in baseball activities it is difficult to imagine he will be activated in the minimum 15 days. Analyst: Matthew Beck
This move was expected and currently the Orioles have not mentioned anything in terms of a possible return date or if he will return this season at all. Manny was beginning to turn it on over the past month and a half hitting .356 with 14 runs, five home runs and 15 RBI since he returned to the lineup on July 5th.Analyst: Jonathan Impemba
Machado was placed on the 15-day DL with a sprained knee ligament. As of now there is no timetable set for his return. The Orioles called up Cord Phelps from Triple-A Norfolk to provide some infield depth as the corresponding move. Analyst: Jonathan Impemba
This was the same knee had surgery on this offseason, so it could've been worse than a ligament sprain. However, expect him to be placed on the disabled on Wednesday when the Orioles know more about the knee injury. He got hurt swinging at a pitch during the game on Monday night.Analyst: Mark Kaplan
