Latest Update Manny Machado (back) not expected to land on the DL Wed Jul, 23, 09:26 PM
Has good power and the ability to play a quality shortstop (with a great arm). Can also steal some bases. Is versatile enough to play several infield positions if need be. Is fairly adept at making solid contact.
Flaws: : Struggles at times when he tries to hit home runs too much, so he must be better at using the entire field. Is perhaps too big to play the shortstop position on a regular basis at the big-league level.
Machado is hitting .400 in the month of July with six runs, three home runs and six RBI. Machado owners should consider to monitor this back issue should it become more serious than just a day to day thing. Machado was a late scratch from the lineup. In his absence Ryan Flaherty will start at third base. The injury doesn't seem to be a serious issue. Expect him to be back in the lineup within the next few days. Analyst: Ben Diamond
This is just a precautionary measure as the Orioles don't want to risk losing their prized young third baseman for an extended period of time. Consider him day-to-day for now and expect an update on Wednesday. Ryan Flaherty is now in the starting lineup and playing third base.Analyst: David Kerr
Oh the drama and story lines were abundant in this game, as Machado and the O's were facing the A's for the first time since Machado was suspended for five games for his bipolar like behavior. The budding star looked to have went from being a D-Bag to T-bagger as his seventh inning home run was looking as if it was going to be the game-winning RBIs, but as the baseball gods would have Machado's heroics would be trumped by the same person he tried to hit when he launched his bat down the third base line, Josh Donaldson, that garnered him that five-game suspension.
