Latest Update Valdespin was outrighted to Triple-A New Orleans on Friday. Fri Oct, 10, 08:47 PM
Has an intriguing power/speed combination. Is versatile enough to play in both the infield and outfield. Embraces the role of table-setter and can light a fire under his team for stretches.
Flaws: : Needs to become more mature, on and off the field. Also needs to improve his walk/strikeout ratio to make more of an impact in Major League Baseball. Gets caught stealing too often.
The 26-year old utility man was suspended for the first 50 games of last season following the Biogenesis probe. He was eventually called up from the minors in July, and hit just .214 with three home runs and and ten RBI in 52 games. If he accepts his assignment, he'll be on Triple-A New Orleans' roster in the offseason. Analyst: Ben Diamond
Well, you know what they say...the sun shines on a dog's ass at least once. Valdespin barely plays so he has not value in fantasy and this home run was likely wasted on the waiver wire just like his last one; the one he hit on July 26.Analyst: Howard Bender
Valdespin has been staple at second base for the Marlins over the last week but will take a seat with lefty Jeff Locke on the hill for the Pirates. Enrique Hernandez will handle the keystone Wednesday with Valdespin likely back in the lineup Thursday.Analyst: Howard Bender
The Marlins second baseman is now slashing .265/.286/.559 with two home runs and four RBI since his promotion back on July 19. Although the power is nice to see out the gates, Valdespin had just 12 career home runs heading into the 2014 season, so it is not something that should be relied upon by players outside of deep NL-only formats.
