Latest Update J.D. Martinez went 3-for-4 with a double, RBI and two runs scored in the Tigers triumph over the Yankees on Tuesday. Tue Aug, 26, 11:53 PM
Is a talented batter who can hit for both average and power, especially at lower levels. Can also be a solid defensive outfielder. Produces runs when he's right.
Flaws: : Needs to prove he can hit for a consistent batting average at the highest level. Isn't much of a base-stealer. Can be injury-prone. Isn't great against right-handed pitching.
Martinez has had hot stretches throughout the year and seems to be in one at this current time. As long as he's smacking the ball on a nightly basis, he'll be in the Tigers lineup, and in turn, he should be in your fantasy lineups.Analyst: David Kerr
After a slow start to the month of August, Martinez has now gone 8-for-20 (.400 BA) with two home runs and four RBI over his last six games. Despite his recent struggles, Martinez is still slashing .306/.348/.567 with 17 homers and 55 RBI through 291 at-bats but could use some work in the strikeout department if he ever wants to take his game to the next level (25.7 percent K rate). Either way he is still a must-own option down the stretch. Analyst: Matthew Beck
Though he has struggled for most of August, Martinez had a nice day at the plate on Thursday. He will continue to see everyday at bats and may be catching fire at the right time. He makes for a solid outfield option in deeper mixed leagues going forward.Analyst: David Kerr
He did most of his damage in the first few innings of the game and didn't do much the rest of the time. He continues to hit in the heart of that order and is a great source for RBIs. Analyst: Mark Kaplan
