Latest Update Gomez has been diagnosed with a “Slight” concussion Fri Aug, 22, 04:33 PM
Displays pretty good home-run power. Is a very good defender behind the dish. A versatile player and batter, he can play all over the field--as well as serve as a regular catcher.
Flaws: : Needs to improve his walk/strikeout ratio in order to maximize his production with the stick in Major League Baseball. In general, he could stand to become a more consistent hitter.
The Indians haven't put him on the 7-day concussion DL, but that's definitely an option. They'll see how he fares over the next few days as obviously the team can put him on the list retroactively. Roberto Perez will continue to work behind the plate.Analyst: Howard Bender
While illness was better than injury, illness meaning concussion is a different story. The Tribe will re-evaluate him, but don't be surprised to see Gomes land on the 7-day concussion DL. Stay tuned for more.Analyst: Howard Bender
Gomes was a popular sleeper pick going into the season and he has not disappointed hitting .285 with 52 runs, 17 home runs and 53 RBI as one of the top catchers in fantasy this year.Analyst: Jonathan ImpembaMore Experts..
Gomes is now slashing .285/.325/.479 with 17 home runs and 53 RBI over 382 at-bats, as he continues to be one of the most productive catchers in 2014. Considering how well Gomes has produced, it is hard to believe that the Indians will ever move Carlos Santana back behind the plate, so continue riding Gomes while he smashes his way through a breakout season.
