Latest Update Gomes smacks 13th homer on Sunday Sun Jul, 20, 09:34 PM
Displays pretty good home-run power. Is a very good defender behind the dish. A versatile player and batter, he can play all over the field--as well as serve as a regular catcher.
Flaws: : Needs to improve his walk/strikeout ratio in order to maximize his production with the stick in Major League Baseball. In general, he could stand to become a more consistent hitter.
Gomes has started off the second half of the season on a high-note, with Sunday;s performance being his second multi-hit performance over his last three games. Now sitting on a .273 average with 13 home runs and 37 RBI, Gomes is just one RBI of tying a career-high, while already surpassing last season's home run total on 12 bombs. If he keeps trending in this direction, there is a chance he will reach must-own status, considering he has yet to have less than three home runs in any month up to this point, with four already in July. With three home runs in his last seven games, Gomes is turning his first half from a good one to a great one. The batting average and OBP are a little lower than you'd like to see, but 12 home runs and 36 RBI from behind the plate are rock solid. He may be able to help his rate stats out a little if he cuts the strikeouts, but even just a repeat of his first half numbers would be a welcomed site.Analyst: Howard Bender
Gomes has now homered in back-to-back games to give him 11 on the season with eight of them coming since the 1st of May. Analyst: Michael Pichan
The Brazlian catcher continues to swing a hot bat as he is now hitting .278 (50-for-180) with seven home runs, nine doubles, and 24 RBI since May 1st (49 games). His 10 home runs on the year are tied with three others for the second most among AL catchers this season.Analyst: Michael Pichan
