Latest Update Kirk Nieuwenhuis went 1-for-1 with a home run, two RBI and three walks in the Mets victory over the Marlins on Wednesday. Thu Sep, 04, 12:49 AM
Has good athleticism. Can play all three outfield positions and has pretty good power. Defensively, he is pretty good and has a good throwing arm.
Flaws: : Needs to put it all together, especially in terms of his game-to-game consistency, to make an impact in the bigs. Strikes out a bit too much, too.
Nieuwenhuis is making a case for more playing time with back-to-back strong starts. He is a decent NL-only play, though he has a long way to go to get mixed-league consideration.Analyst: Steve Pimental
Nieuwenhuis made the most of his first start in nearly three weeks. He may have earned himself a bit more playing time in September.Analyst: Steve Pimental
A stiff neck kept him out of last night's game and it seems to be bad enough to keep Kirk Nieuwenhuis out of the lineup again today. The Mets are calling him day-to-day for now but definitely a situation to monitor. Curtis Granderson had been slated for DH duty, but he'll now play right field and Eric Campbell will be the DH.Analyst: Drew Phelps
Nieuwenhuis has been mainly used as a pinch hitter for the Mets having just six at bats in his last six games.Analyst: Jonathan Impemba
