Latest Update Matt Wieters will return by opening day Tue Dec, 09, 09:03 AM
Is an imposing presence (as both a hitter and catcher). Owns a superb batting eye with good power, suggesting he can be an elite switch-hitter. Makes very few mistakes with his glove.
Flaws: : Needs some more work at throwing runners out. Elbow issues don't help. Bats better from the left side than the right, so more improvement is needed there. Could take more walks as a hitter.
Position players coming back from Tommy John usually have a shorter timetable due to the lack of work they actually have to do with the arm. There's no guarantee that Wieters will be ready, but he stands a better chance of an Opening Day return than any pitcher. You'll just have to take a "wait-and-see" approach.Analyst: Howard Bender
This is a long list of players that helped lead the Orioles to the playoffs last season. It's safe to say that their immediate future is bright.Analyst: David Kerr
Wieters was moved to the 60-day DL to make room for Cord Phelps on the 40 man roster.Analyst: Jonathan Impemba
It's good to hear that Wieters is making progress, but he will still miss the remainder of the season. He should be ready for Opening Day 2015 barring any type of setback.Analyst: David Kerr
