Latest Update Brandon Crawford is not in the Giants starting lineup on Thursday Thu Aug, 21, 08:47 PM
Is a very solid defensive infielder, complete with a strong throwing arm. Has pretty good power and is quite big for a middle infielder.
Flaws: : Strikes out a bit too much for his average level of power, and doesn't steal enough bases to be a more rounded offensive player.
Joaquin Arias is getting the start in place of Crawford. Arias is hitting just .207 on the year and is used primarily as a defensive replacement late in games.Analyst: Jonathan Impemba
Crawford is hitting just .133 (2-for-15) with three RBI over his last five games, dropping his season average to .225 with eight home runs and 49 RBI through 377 at-bats. Until he turns things around there is little reason to roster the Giants shortstop at this time, considering he owns a 26.8 percent strikeout rate on the year while logging just three extra-base hits over his last 81 at-bats. Analyst: Matthew Beck
He hasn't played in the past three games for the Giants because he's in a major hitting slump. Not a good day to return as the the Giants face one of the best pitchers in baseball in Chris Sale. Analyst: Mark Kaplan
Brandon Crawford has been a pleasant surprise for the Giants this season and has really come on in the month of July. He now boasts a .233 batting average to go along with eight homers and 45 RBI. This comes as no surprise that he is being moved up the draft order. Analyst: Drew Phelps
