Latest Update Braves finishing up trade for Justin Upton Fri Dec, 19, 08:42 AM
A phenomenal athlete, he possesses all five tools. Owns big-time home-run power. Has a rare mix of size, wheels and raw natural bat-speed. Throws well from the outfield.
Flaws: : Strikes out too much. Has shown he can sometimes lose focus (at the plate, on the basepaths and in the field). Needs to keep working on his fundamentals and consistency.
The Braves are trading away the wrong Upton brother, but obviously they can't move the the other due to a lack of skill and an overblown contract. The rumors surrounding a trade of the 27-year old Justin have been abundant throughout the offseason and he should fetch a pretty solid haul in return. No word yet as to where the Braves could be sending him, but the Orioles have been a long-rumored landing spot.Analyst: Howard Bender
The Padres technically have room for Upton after trading for Matt Kemp and Wil Myers, though that would be a pretty poor defensive outfield, especially in such a spacious home park. The Padres and Braves likely each have at least one more trade to make this offseason, though probably not with each other. Justin Upton's numbers would likely dip a bit in San Diego.Analyst: Steve Pimental
The Braves are shopping him and there are likely to be a number of clubs interested. The Indians and the Orioles both seem like decent landing spots, so with the GM winter meetings starting this week, J-Up could find himself in a new uniform soon enough.Analyst: Howard Bender
It appears neither the Braves nor the A's are done dealing, though it remains to be seen if they deal with each other. Upton could replace most of Josh Donaldson's production, though it is unclear why Oakland would be interested in Gattis.Analyst: Steve Pimental
