Latest Update Braves are very much shopping Justin Upton Fri Nov, 21, 11:19 AM
A phenomenal athlete, he possesses all five tools. Owns big-time home-run power. Has a rare mix of size, wheels and raw natural bat-speed. Throws well from the outfield.
Flaws: : Strikes out too much. Has shown he can sometimes lose focus (at the plate, on the basepaths and in the field). Needs to keep working on his fundamentals and consistency.
Well of course they should expect a higher return. Upton has been a much better player than Heyward has been and is still plenty young himself at 27-years old. Like Heyward, he's had some injury issues, but he's also hit 25 home runs or more in four of his last six seasons, including a career-best 31 in 2011. The Braves are really clearing house here as they look to revamp their entire offense which struggled mightily last season. Maybe they should just think about releasing B.J. Upton here and keep Justin. He hasn't been as much of a problem as his older brother has been.Analyst: Howard Bender
The Braves have a number of holes to fill on offense which has now increased with the trade of Jason Heyward. Trading two of their more productive offensive weapons may net more players with whom to fill the gaps, but sometimes it's about quality and not quantity. The addition of Shelby Miller to the rotation and the recent meeting with Jon Lester seem to indicate the Braves could be doing this to free up some money to bulk up on pitching, but even the Braves know they're going to need to put runs up on the board to win games.Analyst: Howard Bender
The career year for J-UP came to end on Saturday. He finished with 77 runs, 29 home runs, 102 RBI, and eight stolen bases with a slash line of .270/.342/.491.Analyst: Mark Kaplan
Upton's 28 homers on the year put him past last year's total, and he only needs one more RBI for 100 on the year. Upton has produced for those who made the investment in him and he is the Upton brother that is worth something in fantasy. In 2015 drafts, expect Upton to be drafted right where he has been in recent years. Overall, solid season for the outfielder.Analyst: Colby Conway
