Latest Update Brett Gardner (ab strain) is going to try to run on Friday. Fri Sep, 12, 11:17 AM
Is one of the fastest players in baseball, and has the ability to steal plenty of bases (whether up or down in the batting order). Can track down plenty of balls in the outfield, and can even play center field.
Flaws: : Has very little power to speak of, mainly because he constantly hits down on the ball. Needs to prove he can hit left-handed pitching with greater consistency. His arm is not good enough for right field.
He'll give it the ol' college try, but Gardner still seems to be a fairly long way away from coming back just yet. The running will be a nice step forward, but he's going to need time to work at the plate too.Analyst: Howard Bender
While you hate to have cut a guy with such potential speed/runs assets, it looks like it's time to let Gardner go. His "out indefinitely" tag sounds like it will be more than just a couple of weeks and with just three weeks to go in the season, that about wipes him out. And even if he does come back for the final week, his contributions aren't going to be game-changing. Ichiro should see an increase in playing time and the team can always go with Martin Prado in left and Stephen Drew at second.Analyst: Howard Bender
Noit what you want when you're trying to make a move towards the playoffs.; Consider Gardner day-to-day and await word from the Yankees after he sees the doctor, but expect him to miss a few games here.Analyst: Howard Bender
Gardner should be fine. He may miss tomorrow's game, but he should be back in the lineup on Monday.Analyst: Ben Diamond
