Latest Update McCutchen steals 16th base Sunday Sun Jul, 20, 08:25 PM
Has tremendous speed and athleticism. Also possesses power, a keen batting eye and plate patience at the dish. Is a great and instinctive defensive center-fielder. Can steal bases.
Flaws: : Could stand to put on more muscle on his 5-10 frame (for even better power and greater durability). With his speed, he could become more efficient when on the base-paths.
Although his production has yet to come around following the All-Star break, McCutchen found a way to contribute for his fantasy owners with his speed on the base paths. He now sits with 16 stolen bases to accompany his 17 home runs and 62 RBI through 366 at-bats, as he remains on pace to reach the 20/20 club for the fourth consecutive season at the very least. The Pirates captain remains one of the top overall fantasy options as we get into the stretch run. Analyst: Matthew Beck
Not much to say, but bravo. The man is one of the top three players in the game today.Analyst: Ivar G. Anderson
If anyone was ever doubting McCutchen's ability to repeat as the NL MVP, his performance in this game as well as the rest of the first half should be keeping the skeptics quiet. This was his ninth career multi-homer game and he did it in style -- the game-tying shot in the ninth and the game-winner in the 11th. That's the kind of stuff 10-year-olds make up in their head when they're stepping up to the plate against their friends. It's the dream scenario. Overall, McCutchen is batting .325 with 17 home runs, 61 RBI, 56 runs scored and 15 stolen bases. That's just flat-out ridiculous. Analyst: Howard Bender
Cutch continues to crush it as he has a July slash line of .372/.417/.744 with three home runs, two triples, three doubles, 11 RBI, nine runs scored, and three stolen bases through 11 games. His .552 SLG% is third best in the NL with his 27 doubles ranking fifth in the NL on the year. Analyst: Michael Pichan
