Latest Update McCutchen has been activated from the 15-day DL Tue Aug, 19, 03:24 PM
Has tremendous speed and athleticism. Also possesses power, a keen batting eye and plate patience at the dish. Is a great and instinctive defensive center-fielder. Can steal bases.
Flaws: : Could stand to put on more muscle on his 5-10 frame (for even better power and greater durability). With his speed, he could become more efficient when on the base-paths.
The Pirates seem pretty confident in McCutchen's cracked rib and will lay the burden of a playoff push on his shoulders.Monitor his progress throughthe first few games to see how he performs, but you may want to think about avoiding him in DFS play for now until you see him hit.Analyst: Howard Bender
It was a pretty quick DL stint if he's legitimately ready to return from a cracked rib. We'll have to see about that. With the nature of this injury and with the speed at which he has supposedly recovered, fantasy owners should be a little suspect and not blindly jump in head-first. It's real easy to fall in love with a name, but if he's not producing because he's coming back too soon, that needs to be addressed.Analyst: Howard Bender
It was looking like a rib cage injury would hold McCutchen out for a while, but he's made great progress. He's eligible to return on the 19th, and if McCutchen can continue to ramp up his rehab, he should return close to that date. Analyst: Ben Diamond
Took them long enough to put him on the D.L.. He got hit by a pitch in the rib cage, which caused the broke the rib. The Pirates haven't announced how long he will be out for. That means its too early to drop him in redraft leagues. Analyst: Mark Kaplan
