Latest Update Michael Brantley hits 36th double, steals 17th base Sun Aug, 31, 05:52 AM
Has a very good batting eye, excellent patience and good speed. Also has a rangy, athletic frame with run-producing skills. Is also very good glove man in the outfield.
Flaws: : Needs to show he can hit with more power to add to his overall value. Defensively, he doesn't have a great arm. Doesn't have one elite quality to speak of, unfortunately.
The breakout season continues for Brantley as he is now 6-for-14 (.429) with two RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases over his last three games. He's not just two home runs and three stolen bases away from his first 20-20 season and all the while, doing it with a .311 batting average. He ran a little cold there in early-to-mid August, but he seems back on-track now and should be a staple in your lineup over the final month of the season.Analyst: Howard Bender
After a 3-for-30 run at the plate recently, Brantley is getting a day off mandated by manager Terry Francona. It's a rare slump for Brantley who has been having an outstanding breakout season, so there's nothing to worry about. He's probably tired, nothing more than that. He should be able to pick himself up easily and get back on-track. Mike Aviles will fill in at left field for Sunday's action.Analyst: Howard Bender
Brantley's breakout season continued on Saturday as he is now slashing .321/.379/.516 with 18 home runs, 80 RBI and 13 steals in 461 at-bats. He is only two home runs shy of posting his first career 20 home runs season, while having already set career-highs in both the long balls and RBI department with six weeks left in the season. The 27-year-old outfielder was a great mid-to-late round pick in this year's drafts, but is going to see his value skyrocket after his brilliant 2014 season as we move on to next year.
