Latest Update Jay Bruce went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs scored in the reds win on Sunday against the Braves at Great American Ball Park. Sun Aug, 24, 05:47 PM
A great athlete with excellent size and mobility, he hits the ball with huge power. Has the instincts and talent to be a star in all aspects of the game.
Flaws: : Strikes out too much and forces things at the plate sometimes. Also, his outfield defense is still a work in progress. Isn't much of a base-stealer.
Bruce gets a day off against a right hander, with Ervin Santana on the mound for the Braves on Saturday. Chris Heisey will take over in right field today. Bruce has been a major disappointment this season so far, so him being out of the lineup is not a huge hit for his owners.Analyst: Ivar G. Anderson
It's nice to see Bruce putting together a productive stretch here at a time when fantasy owners need it most. He's 5-for 14 (.357) with two home runs, eight RBI and three runs scored over his last three games. The Reds have been struggling to stay afloat here, but perhaps now that Bruce is hitting, Todd Frazier's back is better and Brandon Phillips has finally returned, we can see somem consistent production from the middle of the Reds lineup again.Analyst: Howard Bender
Bruce had a nice day at the plate in Sunday's doubleheader and is now hitting .250 with three home runs and nine RBI in the month of August. Although 2014 has been a down year for the Reds cleanup hitter (.221 BA with 13 HR), if he is able to keep up his current pace he should be able to reach 20 home runs the seventh consecutive season barring any injuries.
