Latest Update Pedroia (sick) returned to the Red Sox lineup Mon Aug, 18, 03:05 PM
Is a very good contact hitter with solid power, some speed and a great glove. Doesn't strike out much. Has great overall instincts and gets the most out his ability. Hustles constantly.
Flaws: : Can wear down physically over the long haul due to his all-out style. Will have the occasional lapse on the basepaths. Is not a natural athlete.
While most had Pedroia's absence linked to him fouling a ball off his foot, it was actually a 36--48 hour virus that had him run down and out of the lineup. The fact that he's returned to the lineup is great. Now he just has to actually play like the Pedroia we once knew.Analyst: Howard Bender
Well that's actually encouraging as that means the foot is not an issue at all. Hopefully this is just a 24-hour bug and Pedroia will be ready to go come Monday morning.Analyst: Howard Bender
Pedroia left Friday's game after fouling a ball off his foot. He was back in the lineup for Saturday, but will take a day off to rest Sunday to ensure that he doesn't push anything and risk doing further damage. Brock Holt will handle the work at the keystone for Sunday.Analyst: Howard Bender
The foul that he hit off his right foot Friday night that forced him out of the game did not do any serious damage it would appear. Analyst: Ivar G. Anderson
