Latest Update Pedroia (head) is gradually progressing Tue Sep, 02, 12:38 PM
Is a very good contact hitter with solid power, some speed and a great glove. Doesn't strike out much. Has great instincts and gets the most out his ability. Hustles constantly. His bat speed and plate coverage are fantastic.
Flaws: : Can wear down physically over the long haul due to his all-out style (and lack of ideal size for the big leagues). Will have the occasional lapse on the basepaths. Is not a natural athlete, so he always needs to work extra hard.
It looks like Pedroia will not play until at least the weekend after the comments from John Farrell. Pedroia has been out with a concussion since Saturday when took a forearm to the head in a nasty collision at second base. The symptoms were still present on Monday morning and the team is not going to take any risks with the face of their franchise. Analyst: Drew Phelps
Depending on how Pedroia responds in the next few days, the Red Sox might just be wise to shut him down rather than risk his health. Obviously that seems extreme but the Sox aren't competing for a playoff spot so they may as well protect their players.Analyst: Howard Bender
With the news of Pedroia not playing Monday, Brock Holt will most likely garner another start in place of the absent Pedroia. Continue monitoring his status closely since you want him in your line up when he is slotted in the Boston line up.Analyst: Colby Conway
As expected, Pedroia is not in the lineup because he is dealing with concussion-like symptoms right now. He is probably going to be out for a few days, at least. Brock Holt will be at second base Sunday and likely each day that Pedroia is out.Analyst: Howard Bender
